Hi Danny
I am certain Alastair Cook did John Cornelius' 'Fickle Nickle' trick, but using a £2 coin instead of an American Nickle. What might interest those who didn't see the programme(Channel 5 in the UK) is that he did the trick absolutely naked outdoors, with a graphic of a top hat covering a certain part of his anatomy. For those who are familiar with the method of Fickle Nickle .... yes, I believe it probably was !!?? Sorry if that last bit seems a bit cryptic, but it should make sense to those who know the trick. I'm not sure if John Cornelius is still selling the fickle nickle trick. I know that the trick is demonstrated and explained on Michael Ammars Classical Renditions 2 (Rubber Band Magic). The effect is explained by none other than John Cornelius himself
Magic is fun!!!

The effect is also published in his new book.
