Hi Smile

Pardon for asking cos I am Not living in the states....can anyone advise:

AFTER the convention ends on 30th June...if I leave Reno on 1st July (Sun).....any idea....what is the best ways to get to Las Vegas:

From Reno: if by Coach is how much & how long?
if by AIR is how much & how long?

btw, is Reno very far from Las Vegas..?

After staying in Vegas for 3 days....I need to return to Reno Airport again by the same mode of transportation to depart home.

Thank you
doveboy

There are daily commuter flights between Las Vegas and Reno. Flight time is typically an hour or less. Round trip prices range from $260 to $150 or less depending on when you buy your tickets.

The convention hotel has a free shuttle that goes to and from the Reno airport frequently throughout the day.

Reno to Las Vegas is a LONG drive. You would waste an entire day driving to Las Vegas, and an entire day driving back. Flying is your best option.

P/S: Just a question, is Reno as INTERESTING as Las Vegas or very boring...last year I went to Kentucky for the SAM convention 06 in Louisville, is rather is 'boring' city so we we flew to LA & drove to Las Vegas...many hours...if Reno is fun guess I can stay in Reno...thanks for yr advise Smile

Reno is a miniature Las Vegas. If you're over 21 you can hang out in the Casinos. If you're over 60 you'll fit right in. As long as your budget can handle it, being in Las Vegas for the 4th of July celebration would be a great thing to do.

Las Vegas will be much hotter in July usually over 100 degrees, Reno is warm but usually 10 degrees less during that time.

We're in the coldest winter in recent Las Vegas history. It reached all the way down to 30 degrees! Desert rats are wimps. I recall walking the streets of Minneapolis at 30 degrees below zero. Actually, that's why I moved to Las Vegas, to get away from the cold. I guess I'm one of those wimps after all.

The I.B.M. last weekend had its mid-year meeting in Las Vegas. I must tell you that, to me, 40 degrees was like a heat-wave. Of course, coming from Chicago does affect one's perception of things.

If you like the beauty of nature, when in Reno, take some time and go up to Lake Tahoe. It is breathtaking. It's about an hour drive from Reno. It's certainly one of the great sites of the United States. And of course, if you're in Las Vegas take a tour of Red Rocks, Hoover Dam, and if you have a lot of time...the Grand Canyon and Death Valley. Lot's to do and see, even without civilization (except for comfortable eating and sleeping).

And Dave is right. The drive (about 425 miles) takes about 8 or 9 hours depending on how many stops you make.

Reno is nice, but that only lasts for 1 day....you can see the main parts of Reno in a day. Last years convention it was 101+ in Reno!!!! Ugggh!
