I just found this trick today-->
http://halloweenhotlist.blogspot.com/200......ick.html It's one of those self-working online magic tricks. A "ghost" figures out which square you're on. The flash animation is pretty cool. Definitely worth a look. |

Well, I did write about it on my blog, but I don't have any connection to the folks who created it.
Speaking of online tricks though, here is a great site that lists tons of them: http://www.compumagic.com/cybermagic/online.html (And no, I don't have any connection to the compumagic people either.) |

This is called "Gray's Computer." It is in Karl Fulves book on self-working card tricks published by Dover.
It was also the basis for "The Eye of J. Alfred Prufrock," which was produced in the 1970's by Earle Christenberry, Jr.

Cbmar speaks the truth Baba, he may be promoting his blog but the actual flash animation was created by me over ten years ago for one of my web sites.
I love the information Mr. Palmer. I originally based it on some effect I had seen done by Kreskin. Thanks for the blog mention cbmar. Eddie aka Edward Bain |

How many different types of online tricks are there?
I know there's (and forgive me for not knowing the actual names): 1. Gray's Computer 2. The Princess Card 3. The Clock based trick (move x number of spaces clockwise, then x number of spaces counter-clockwise, etc.) 4. Pick a three digit #, mix up digits, subtract smaller from larger... 5. Pick a two digit #, add the digits, subtract this # from the original... 6. Computer Card (Is your selection on this page/row? How about this one? How about this one? Etc. The sum of the digits in the upper left hand corner equals the original #.) Obviously, there are endless variations on each of these. What basic types am I missing though? |

Mr. Palmer,
I noticed your comments about "The Eye of J. Alfred Prufrock". Earl Christenberry is a great person, magician and friend of 40 years. I am sure he would want to set the record straight. "The Eye of J. Alfred Prufrock" was the formulation of DuBreuil & Castillon Exclusive Magic in 1973. A few years ago, another version was released by DuBreuil Magic (www.amagiciansmagic.com) called "The Eye of DuBreuil". This version has a different card layout and no recording. |
