I review very little because everything in magic is so subjective that it’s hard to feel good about giving advice when everyone has such a diverse need concerning their personal shows. That being said, I have not ever seen a complete package as nice as Cody Fisher’s “Bet Your Bucks”.
I have seen (and/or used) almost every bill to lemon method that has been made available in the last ten years (I’m a sucker for this plot, and my wallet shows it ), and I have yet to see anything that beats this package. I am not going to ramble on about handling details, but I will say that this package takes the most unique approach to this effect that I have ever seen. What other handling has anyone seen where there is absolutely NO HEAT on the performer AT ANY TIME, yet the bill is in the lemon and SEALED already??? Cody’s approach to this plot is just like the approach he has taken with all of his other magic, EVERY nuance is thought out, it’s powerful, and entertaining. He as managed to create a method that will fool anyone watching (and yes, I am including whatever magician you would like to pick out) as well as any laymen, but most importantly, it is ENTERTAINING to both groups as well. When one combines all of the above mentioned attributes with the fact that his handling is COMPLETLY self-working, well, I just haven’t seen a better product put together for bill in lemon, period. Cody supplies his entire act, even the lines and gags that he has honed through his own live performances for the lay public as well as the Magic Castle. I talked with Cody about this particular product at length long before this package was available to anyone, the only reason I bring this is up is to point out that this was not a routine that was thrown together to sell to other magicians. Cody worked on this approach, handling, and presentation for a very long time and I know for a fact that it is a cornerstone of his working repertoire. As the consumer you are given what is needed, as well as every presentational line (Cody has a knack for comedic callbacks and running gags for real people) that he has honed form himself. The DVD is one of the most comprehensive teaching aids that I have ever seen, as well as the text that you are provided. I like the fact that he has supplied EVERYTHING that you need, yet not put his actual act on DVD. This insures that you are fully equipped WITHOUT so much influence that everyone will be cloning this act the exact same way. This is one of the only full package sets I can think of that is so comprehensive yet leaves so much room for personal adaptation. I feel very comfortable is saying that if you are interested in this plot, you will find absolutely no better product that what Mr. Fisher has provided here. It’s a laugh a minute and totally amazing….or, whatever you want it to be. To the worker, this is money well spent. Best, Clark

Right on Clark.
Sorry, but there goes all of my other bill in lemon effects including F/A. Cody's BYB is the most brilliant and devious set up I have ever seen. Just about anyone can do this. The lemon is loaded and sealed right in front of their eyes. You will almost want to laugh while doing the loading and sealing the lemon, its so easy. There is a bit at the end with the sign billjust before the vanish, that is priceless. The props are first class, and will last a life time. The DVD is well done, everything is explaned nothing is left out. At the end you become an expert at The bill in lemon. This method can be adapted to any other routine (The Lemon game), but I like Cody's routine. Maybe, the only one thing that could cause a bit of problem, and that is if you have very small hands. If there was such of an award for the best trick of the century, BYB would win hands down. This is real magic. BYB is worth more than the $299. Richard. |

I posted the following in the "Latest and Greatest" thread but I figure this is the RIGHT place for reviews so here goes:
For those in a hurry, let me start with the bottom line: this gets my highest recommendation: 10/10. This is my review for “Bet Your Bucks” by Cody Fisher. I have been waiting for this routine for quite some time now - when I first heard about it, I was honestly surprised because I have also been performing a game-show type routine for my bill in lemon. My routine is based on Doug Malloy's Lemon Game routine combined with bits from Scott Alexander's Final Answer routine. Until this routine came out, I really didn't think there was much more that could be added to the method or plot for the bill in lemon. Boy was I wrong! The Effect A borrowed (signed) bill is used to play a little game show (game of chance) with an audience member. In the end the audience member looses their bill and has to settle on the consolation prize. (A lemon) When the lemon is cut open the volunteer finds their signed bill! The Materials You receive the loading gimmick, the sealing gimmick, some pay envelopes, some markers, an instructional DVD, a music CD, and several pages of written instructions. There is a one time set up that you will need to do with your loading device. Due to the fact that different countries have different currency, each individual will need to do this themselves. Originality The method used in this routine, as far as I know, is entirely unique. I have never seen this method to load a lemon or to seal a lemon. It's VERY easy to do. In most bill to lemon routines I find myself very nervous (almost rushed) when loading the lemon. In this routine, the 'move' if you can call it that, is done in plain view of the audience and the action is fully justified! I also like that there is a motivated reason for signing, folding, and borrowing the bill. Finally, as far as I know, this is the only version out where the spectator can cut open the lemon. Once loaded and sealed, the volunteer would have a VERY tough time to see ANY work at all on the lemon Prop Quality There are actually two main props involved. One is an actual prop…the other is not really a prop in every sense of the word. The main prop is the device that is used to load the bill into the lemon. It is made of thick plastic and looks fairly sturdy. The second “prop” is the lemon sealing gimmick. It’s hard to really review this without saying too much…I will say that the quality is perfect and it does exactly what is says it will do. Instruction Quality This comes with both written instructions and DVD instructions. Both are VERY detailed and very easy to understand. After understanding what the prop does and basically how to use it, I didn’t think the DVD would be very long. On the contrary, the DVD is almost 3 hours long. Cody goes into very intimate detail for every aspect of this routine. I was very impressed with the amount of information that was given. Cody is a real “thinker” when it comes to his material and this is no exception. The “Bet Your Bucks” routine is very commercial, and has MANY jokes that I haven't heard before. Besides the stand up version, Cody’s also shows how to use this in a trade show and close up situation. Final Comments All in all, the routine is practical, entertaining, funny, and deceptive. I'd say it's well worth the money, and for those performing regularly, considerably more. Although it would have been nice to see Cody perform this, the effect does come with Cody’s word-for-word script. He even tells you where to buy costumes, what additional props you COULD get, and goes as far as to tell you exactly where to get anything you'd need for it! Personally, I'm extremely pleased and give this routine my highest recommendation. 10/10 Alym

I have had this now for a few days and have finally had time to watch the entire DVD and do the preparation to my gimmick. This thing is slick man! The load and seal is lightning quick. The hardest part about this is not laughing when you load the lemon…Wow! I have been practicing this and can’t wait to use it in a real show. This has to be the most logical method I’ve ever seen…completely “outside the box”! Cody, all I can say is you have outdone yourself with this one. I will never use any other method from here on out. Thanks for your generous gift to all of us who work in “the real world”.
Highly Recommended! Jeff Case

Spend the money guys. You'll never regret it.
Best buy in 20 years. If you get one, send me a PM I have done something with the prop to make it last a life time and beyond. Richard. |

How are the angles? Can it be done surrounded and fairly close up!

I wouldn't recommend doing this surrounded, this would be great for stage, parlour, or formal close-up.
