Do you believe in the Indian Rope Trick? I understand that P.C. Sorcar has performed this one successfully before.

Quite frankly I don't. Considering that there is more evidence to support ghosts. (I believe in ghosts by the way) The fact is if there was an Indian rope trick, somebody would here about it and we would all have seen it on TV or read about it in a book. that's my opinion what do others think?

I've always loved this trick. I think it is India's best kept secret along with the 3 sword lev. I've got my own method for this and it works well. If someone wants it pm me.

In "The secrets of Houdini" there is a section on the Indian Rope Trick as performed on stage. In Swami/Mantra I recall an essay about trying to see it performed in India. The author tried to find someone who did it as described (the rope goes in the air, a boy climbs it and dissapears, the magician goes up the rope with a knife, also dissapears. Soon body parts fall from the sky, the magician climbs down, gathers the parts, puts the boy back together) and never found anyone performing it.
Cool trick though. |

There is some evidence that this trick was originally connected to ancient poll sitters (ala Blaine).

I believe that it is a classic magic illusion. There is no question that it has been done. I saw Lee Grabel, I think it was, do an interesting version on stage. Outdoors in India, in just the right setting, I am sure it is dramatic.
If you are asking if the rope really floats in India, that is a different question. No. quack |
