Hi Everyone,
I have all nine volumes of Ammar’s ETMCM. I’ve just been reviewing some of the different volumes and notice that the explanations he gives for the routines in vol. 1-3 are far less detailed than in vol. 4-9. It actually seems that the explanations are a bit rushed in 1-3. Has anyone else noticed this, and I’m curious what your opinion is. Thanks! |

They are complete enough

Yeah they're fine.
The explanations in the other ones are longer because the tricks are more complicated. |

I began with Ammar's ETMCM Vol 1 and never had any trouble. The routines are more complicated in the later dvds, thus the more detailed explanations.

I agree, they are fine (I was not criticizing). I was just pointing out that they are not as detailed as vol. 4-9. I wouldn't say all the tricks in 4-9 are more complicated, but Futureal you have a point.
This may sound silly, but perhaps consumer demand is the reason why. Volumes 1-3 are from the early 90's. I don't think people in general had the same expectations for products they bought then that they do now. This started to change in the second half of the 90's. Could it be that L&L and Ammar knowing this, made a conscious effort to make the explanations more detailed so consumers get more bang for their buck? |

Actually, I'm going to have to come in on the side of too sparse, at least in some cases. The explanation for the double lift, for example, consists entirely of saying" Now do a Vernon lift, turning two cards over as one". I came upon this series shortly after graduating from Mark Wilson's book, and found this a little frustrating at first, though eventually I could do most of the effects.
For beginner's I'd strongly recommend you wait until you've mastered the first two volumes of card college before you tackle this series, despite the "easy to master" title... |
