And they were all wrong. John

First a correction...I am old enough to be Scott's father...theoretically grandfather but as I thought about it that would be pushing it.
Randi isn't god to me as he is to some of you...he doesn't have the only gospel word in testing things. He can do what he wants with his money, that is his power. At least Randi put a "don't sue me" clause in there...now he can say whatever he wants without being held accountable. He can't do this because I haven't filled out the paperwork? He doesn't have to put up the money, I've already said that. Since no money is involved this is a lame excuse, nothing more. As far as publicity goes read Randi's paperwork...he wants the right to use the video/demonstration in the future however he wants (see his no-sue clause)...Randi does this for the publicity...I await your criticisms of Randi for this horrible sin I have been accused of. Let me simplify it: Skeptics claim psychic readings are done with cold reading techniques. I say I do it real. It is a very real challenge that goes to a core concept of skeptics...that there is no psychic reading, it is cold reading. I'm willing to do it in public where everyone can see what happens and what is said...I know you skeptics are smarter than everyone else in the world but it would be nice to be evaluated by people who haven't a personal agenda. I've seen joking, asides, and digressions...but no cold reader willing to go in public one-on-one. Perhaps when I check my e-mail when I get home this may no longer be true. Strap on some cahones you skeptics...let's do this where the world can see it. Stop hiding behind James Randi's skirt. By the way, I know some Randiphiles lurk here...have you reported to him what you read here in these posts? Does he remember me from when I was a boy? If he agrees to do this himself I would be very pleased. I have been very much looking forward to meeting him after all these years since I was young. |

Mota, what exactly can you do in your readings? Can you tell specific things that no one else could possibly know, or just general stuff like we always see in readings like that?
Just wondering what is the difference between your real readings and the ones that are done using cold reading. |

From what I heard, John Edward is pretty good on the dance floor as well.

Pah! You lot just don't want me to win the challenge. You are just scared of my obvious, and very real, talent. Those guys mentioned are just charlatans on the dance floor - what I do is for real!

No, last time I tried I got a splinter from the wooden shoes.
I'm what you might call a chair dancer. |

Yes Chichi, he did. A Charlatan, a fraud, the Milli Vanilli of dance.
I think you shoud challenge him to a dance off. |

Mota -- good luck to you on your challenge.
Just one thing -- if you are in Dallas, Banacheck isn't local. Banacheck's residence is in Houston. People in Houston don't think of Dallas as "local." Boston is closer to New York than Houston is to Dallas. New Yorkers don't think of Bostonians as local. Compound that with the fact that Banacheck has been spending more time these past few months in Las Vegas than in Houston -- he's definitely not "local" for you.

Yes Tony. That or Salsa and I will have to take our own title. He can be the Mental Dancing King of the UK and I will be the Mental Dancing King of the USA. I think I would smoke him in a dance off. I got skills.

I should also add that Banacheck is a friend of Randi, so I don't think he would make a good neutral third party. Neither would I, but I'm not a friend of Randi.

I got a response from Mr. Randi...
He was a jerk...that may not surprise many of you but it did suprise me. If anyone else wants to take this challenge (cold reading vs psychic reading in a public forum) contact me and I will post it for all to watch. So here is his response, I'm sure everyone on all sides will find something entertaining here. For example I challenged him on his objectivity and "I wonder how he got the water map" comment...that he didn't even consider the possibility it was real... As you can see he ignored it and changed the subject to the dowser's who missed. Take a look at his response in the letter and compare it to what he wrote in Flim Flam. As long as I am on Flim-Flam, Randi's book, I believe it was there that he talked about writing an astrology column by cutting out old ones and rearranging. I heard later he never did this but just said it. If he did it someone must know which newspaper it was in...just an aside b/c I was thinking about the book. He is hiding behind his application form...no-sue and the "evidence should be obvious" clauses and all. The evidence is obvious...the evidence Jesus is real is obvious to believers as Randi's evidence would be obvious for him. The evidence cold reading does not produce psychic readings would be very self-evident to anyone who experienced them one after the other. It wouldn't be tough to see...even for a skeptic. I do psychic readings for people...cold reading does not produce the same results. I thought if no money was involved he would love to "bust" me at no risk...or he could send some of his Randiphiles to do the work... Randi hid behind his application form (there is no money involved) and I have yet to see any skeptic post they would do this test publicly with me. I apologize to all who PM'd me and told me he was a jerk and who I then told he isn't...he will be professional. I was wrong. So, without further ado here is something for everyone...I'm sure this letter will settle things and clear things up with everyone ;-) My letter from James Randi...have fun all! “The” Australian dowser – he was one of many, but you chose to point him out – simply walked directly from the source to the outlet, then veered off. None of the others even went in the right direction, yet you choose to point out the ONE “close” guess, and reject all the hundreds of others that missed. That’s typical. We do no “judgment” of any claim or test; that’s done by others. I am not part of the tests. I have no input, so I can’t choose to “admit” or reject. We use no “judge” – results must be self-evident. In any case, you haven’t made an application, so this is all talk. Don’t thank me for my time; I waste it with people like you every day. But READ THE SIMPLE RULES so you won’t look like such a fool again. As for the million, it was never safer.
