That's probably a "Pop Away Wand". They're still available from some dealers. I still have an original one. Keep in mind that it's best to have the ends attached to each other inside the wand by a long piece of rope. Makes finding it and picking it up much easier.

Yes Matt and Steve - that is definitely a pop-away wand, first put out by the Supreme Magic Company. I found one for sale here:

I think you're referring to Trixe Bond's Popsy Topsy wand available at
http://www.elmwoodmagic.com/full/Magic-T......1118.htm or other fine retail magic shops. Just a suggestion. David Ginn recommends putting a rope in the wand and attaching it to each top. That way it'll still pop off, but not go flying into the crowd. Kids will react to the tip of the wand dangling from the rope, and you won't have to negotiate a way to get the tip back form the kids. Enjoy... Ken |

Just out of interest - What is the difference between Trixie Bond's topsy popsy wand and Supreme's original? They look exactly the same to me!

nothing really other than no one can get supreme stuff anymore. I think she simply brought back something that was a great prop that no one could get. Ken |

I remember Edwin saying that he visited a factory to look into buying some brazing rods for one trick or another and the guys on the shop floor were shooting the end caps off the plastic tubes they came packaged in at one another. The Pop away wand was born!

Great little video clip. What was that "Rabbit put on the hat" trick?

Although many folks like to put a ribbon or rope inside the Popsy wand so the ends don't fly too far, I prefer not to do that. It works great for me when the cap flies off into the audience, never had a problem with it. But it's a more "chaotic" way of using the prop!

I used the wand to store silks in, an egg for the egg bag, and anything else that I didn't want floating around my case.

I will definitely be ordering one of these, as well as a few other wands for the first routine in my show.
