I just read in the national council minutes the first part of November that there were only 71 registrations for the upcoming 2007 convention in Dallas. I just wonder why is this so low. I know (and certainly hope) the registrations pick up.

Is it the talent line up? Are costs too high to attend? Are hotel and transporations too expensive? Too many other conventions?

I have always enjoyed the SAM national conventions and look forward to this year's. I also know that the convention comittee is constantly seeking input to make the convention more worthwhile and valuable to members.

I would just be interested in hearing others thoughts on this.

I would imagine it is just early in the year yet, more registrations will come in closer to date, which is July, it is only January, people thinking income tax and other things right now, magic conventions are future date.

I am sure they have gone up. The meeting was back in November. But yes, people usually wait until later in the year to decide vacation plans. Nothing to worry about. It's all good. =)

Yeah, based on reports from Chuck Lehr to the Dallas Magic Clubs, of which I'm a member, things are rolling along just fine so far.

That is the news I heard as well. Things are starting to pick up now that ads are being done in MUM and the holidays are over with. People will start making plans and start registering a lot more now. I also know of a lot of folks wanting to go that just have not registered yet. I will be there in all my glory as I always am and with Café Stickers in hand.

People should also realize that the price goes up next month. Save enough to buy a couple tricks by registering now.
