Well I had my first chance to perform “Scorpion” last night at a Superbowl party.
It couldn’t have played any better, all the way down to the crushing of the last cup. When I got to the last cup and put my hand over the Scorpion and acted as though I was coming down on it, only to crush the other cup with my other hand. Several loud “ahs…..” as I slammed down on the last cup. This is a great effect and the back story is very believable due to the authentic looking prop. Everybody wanted to touch it to make sure it was sharp…. I’ve wanted to do an effect like this but wanted something a bit smaller for close up and something more unique and not seen before…. This fits the bill perfectly! Best to all, Bobby |

Remember, guys: the first one to slam down on the wrong cup and get a big ouchie buys the whole Café a drink.

I apologize for the wait but each set is hand made and we got SLAMMED with way more orders than we had prepared for! (our fault we're still trying to get ahead of the orders). If you ordered before Feb. 1st your order has shipped in the past week . After Feb. 1st and your order is shipping tomorrow. So if you ordered before Feb. 1st your Scorpion will be there in the next couple of days. If you're thinking about ordering please allow 7-10 from the date of order to recieving your Scorpion. If you have a problem with that, remember, I know Kung Foo. Outlaw por vida! |

Unfortunatly the USPS lost mine in the mail!! I should have mine in about 3 or 4 days. I will post my review as soon as it comes in.
By the way, Outlaw Magic is what online magic is all about. They have excellent products and great customer service! Marc |

Now that really sucks! Im assuming it was insured? I have the worst luck with the Postal Service, absolutely no consistency at all. Sometimes I get my Priority Packages in 2 days, sometimes 12! No use complaining, there is no guarantee when you pay extra for Priority! Im sure it will be worth the wait!

I would love to hear what your spectators are saying when they see the Scorpion for the first time!

Well....after a long, long, long, long, long wait...I finally rec'd my Scorpion today! It was sent out on 2-3-97 Priority Mail (2-3 days?!?!) Can't blame Outlaw Effects for that! Jeesh I hate the USPS!
Well anyway, after I stopped crying tears of joy, I opened it up to find a little black box with a Japanese symbol on it. I proceeded to open the box only to see the most menacing piece of magic that I have in my arsenal! This thing looks so realistic like a real ninja just made the thing! And anyone who was wondering if it would hurt to slam your hand down on it, well, lets just hope that you never do that. The spikes are solid and sharp! This thing has some weight to it! I can just imagine how much damage this thing would do if you stepped on it or if it was thrown at you or God forbid you slammed your hand down on it! The attention to detail is awesome as some of the spikes facing up are stained red! It comes with cups to perform with which are kinda funny because they show a nice little under the sea pattern on it, you wouldn't think that underneath this harmless looking cup is a deadly weapon! It also come with a complete patter that is based on actual Japanese history. The routine fits the effect very nicely! All in all, if you want to shock, scare and amaze people, get this now. I will post another review as soon as I get a chance to perform it! Marc PS. Thanks for your help with this Rick! PSS. We need some more posts on performances!! |

This really looks great Rick! Great alternative to Spike and some of the more expensive effects. Ordered and waiting.

I got mine yesterday. I'm scared .
The Makibishi looks very dangerous. Best of all, RR gives a premise that turns this into something more than "watch me avoid the sharp object." Also, I've had the opportunity to work with another recently released "sharp object" (The Spike) and as frightening appearing as I initially thought it was, Scorpion is scarier. And it is just inherently fascinating. Also, though the method is the same, Scorpion seems more advanced and far safer. I'll get back after I've had a chance to practice and try it out. Lefty |

I think the prop looks beautiful. But isn't it a bit to small? I mean, could it really scare people?

You have to be careful when you handle the Scorpion. Handle it with proper respect and I can't imagine how people wouldn't be scared of it. Remember this isn't for the big stage so the size makes perfect sense. Also, it is real. You aren't making up a story but telling one. Makibishi kills.
