Hey,
I was just wandering what everyones favourite set of linking rings is as I'm looking to buy some. I'm looking for a 12" set and money doesn't matter (you get what you pay for) so if anyone could help that would be great. Sam |

The consensus on the many threads about this topic on the Café is Owens.

I bought mine at Owens, and they are sweet!!!

I have owen rings and love them. I am wondering about their locking k**. I have never seen theirs but am considering buying 2 for a special routine.
Anyone have experience with them?

Owen rings are hard to beat, however Joe Porper has made up a few sets that are incredible. His locking key and spinning ring added to the set make for a killer routine. A top magician in Las Vegas has just got a set and the quality is as good as anyone has seen.
He also has a split ring that defies detection (multiplying effect where you hold two rings and suddenly a third ring appears instantly between the two).

Darren... yah, so you were the one. The other full set, plus spinner went to Jeff Hobson.

Hey Pete, I was that guy who came across and shook your hand in the dealers room and said hello.

I saw porpers at WMS and I'd agree with Pete, some very quality rings. Owens are very good rings, top quality, but I'd have to say what I saw of Joe Porpers rings at WMS is that they are going to give owens a run for the money. As you said, if price doesn't matter, I'd give Joe a call.

Joe Porper makes a great set of rings. I have been using his rings for a few years now. My personal oppinion is they are better than Owens.

In addition to the standard rings, Joe makes the Spinning ring (one ring balanced on the other and it spins) and a multiplying ring, you have two rings, do a few moves and suddenly there are three (no it is not like an Ellis ring) and then one that fooled me for years, the Ghost Ring that has a K*Y that allows you to seeming have one ring melt thru another visibly.

MagicMakers (Hold the boos) makes a really nice set of locking rings. I like them becuse I can hand them out and don't need to worry about hiding the gap on the key ring.

I just got a mag. k** and a single from Pro-Line for a 2 ring routine I'm putting together and they are beautiful and work like a dream. I tried the Klamm loc*** and found it quite unmanageable and the rings are very cheap indeed. These worked great right out of the box.
A great bargain from ProLine.

I am looking at the Barbed Wire ring set, but cannot find any good reviews out there.
Anybody, seen the new ones? Are they good quality?? Thanks, M

The current barbed wire set is good enough... they are a little lighter then the originals... but remember... it is a gag version you don't do all the figures and moves -- you get stuck, tangled and a ring gets caught on your clothes, your gloved hand. Best gag I got is tossing one out to someone to examine. Watch 'em jump out of the way. And rip off some of your hair when you put it over your head.

The newer barbed set I have looks pretty good, noone is the wiser from just a few feet away. Even the k** is pretty well unnoticeable no matter where you hold it, in fact you can lose track if you aren't careful.
