I am trying to make antennas for a ladybug and would like to be quicker at putting a small bubble at each end of a 160 balloon. The technique Don Caldwell uses on the DVD where he pops it somehow with his mouth is preferred, but it is not explained on the DVD how to do this.
Thanks, Mike

Mike -
It's fairly straight forward. Put the balloon in your mouth, create a "seal" with your lips and draw the air toward that end of the balloon. The vaccuum you are creating will produce the bubble in your mouth. Just be careful about doing this in front of children, etc. Perhaps Don has other insights? peace, phill

It will still work with the balloon tied. Another (Dare I say better?) alternative to "milking" the bubble is to:
Twist a bubble at the end. Make sure it is the size that you want the antennae bubble to be. Then put one hand above the bubble over the uninflated part. Make the grip tight enough for air to pass through, but not for the balloon in your hand to inflate. Then squeeze the twisted bubble with the free hand, I sort of push it against the bottom of my hand holding the uniflated balloon. The air should pass through your hand and come out the other side (it won't go backwards because you twisted it). Ta-da

I also try to make it 'magical' by directing the kids attention to where the bubble will appear and have them snap their fingers (or wave their hand over it if their too small) and time it so it all happens simultaneously (and at the same time). Thanks Jestnjoker for writing this out, Cap'n Mike ===================

No problem.
You can also have the kids blow on the end. When they puff you squeeze and it looks like their breath blew it up magically. You can also reverse this and have Dad kill a balloon with his bad breath. Hehe.

Squeezing the bubble to the top is the accepted method for most. Sucking the bubble to the top is really disgusting and typically frowned upon (and rightfully so). It also sets a bad example for children.
Sucking the bubble should only be done by those who have the personality to pull it off. My clients think it is hilarious when I do it, and when my friend Connie does it, well, it goes over very well with the guys in the bar. The reason I do it on my DVDs is purely to disgust and torment a small group of people who are really militant about not using that technique.
