Hey j, nice spoon ;-)
I learned music and magic both without any jewlery... I've seen some handy uses of a watch for coin and card work, but I never bothered to try them myself. I've been married for 24 years now, and I never wear a ring (or a watch) while performing (music or magic)... so I have not had to re-learn my chops... it's one less adjustment I have to make. My wife understands... I'm just lucky that way ;-)

Mcatalani, ya know the what the percentages are for the 2nd marriage failing?? Perform with it off. J/K.
I will practice with it on but take it off during performance. It catches bad on a palm to palm transferhandwashing. |

I'm not ever getting married. This thread has put me completely off the idea, I never thought of such complications!

I wear a "comfort fit" gold band that has nice rounded edges. I found that initially there was "talk" if I use coins... however a little practice and that was taken care of.
I am very active: hiking, water-skiing, martial arts. I also do *a lot* of close-up work (and card flourishes). Before I start, I always roll-up my sleeves & remove my watch. I explain to them that I never remove my wedding ring (as I say this, I turn my hand palm up and slowly spin the ring around my finger). Being up front like that, I've never had anyone say that the ring was involved. If they are going to go that far, then I just won't perform for them. As long as you are nice about it... Adults understand the importance of keeping it on. Kids just don't care. Just my humble opinion... I never take it off. I performed for more than 10 years before I got married, and I've been performing for nearly 8 years now with it on. It took me around 2 months to rework my sleights, but that is a small price to pay to make sure that everyone knows I love my wife. (Though, if I did take it off, I would put it on a nice gold chain around my neck). Wook

Hiya, Magi:
I don't do card flourishes, but work with coins, and wear three rings on my left hand: A wedding band (or as Mrs. Stone calls it, a "girls, get your own man band"), a large silver band on my middle digit for Magic, and a pinkie ring. Like others have posted, this gives me 1) always-ready props, and 2) training [try a couple of French Drops wearing three rings!]. I wear no rings on my right hand most of the time, for when I'm too lazy to work carefully with my left. Leland |

Just work with it. You will become accustomed to wearing the ring and doing manipulation.
