Anton is the real deal. He's a master negotiator and knows how to work smarter, not harder.
Although we've only recently met, I've always heard his name bandied about by other trade show workers as one of the greats in the business. I've seen Anton's course, and it's something to behold. Hundreds of pages of proposals, scripts, video footage, and more; it's all in there (and well packaged, too!). Yes, Anton is the real deal. Seth Kramer P.S. to Hart Keene: Glad to hear you're getting value from my book.

Seth's Modern Trade Show Handbook is a great value for the money. In addition to his own words on preparing for and performing at trade shows, he includes advice from Paul Green and Ron Popeil on how to sell effectively.

I have seen Seth's tradeshow act twice in the UK, and it is so slick, with an incredible visual card to box move that he continually does throughout his routine. The act is so good, so polished, it legitimizes anything and everything in the book. Upon reading it, I bought every book on the recommended reading list (about 20 books, I think!)
Immerse yourself in the book and be glad he didn't charge 10 times the cover price! Daniel. |

On 2007-03-08 13:35, Hart Keene wrote: Hart, First, let me thank those who have commented with so many flattering words. I just pinched myself...and, yes, I am REAL...and I absolutely love making the DEAL! Deals designed to look out for the client as much as I look out for me! The short answer to (yeah, sure, Zellmann can say something briefly...lol) Hart's question about my first $1,000,000 contract is that, although the actual deal from start to finish took about a month of preparation and negotiation, in reality, I suppose it really took about 15 years to build up to. Up until the time of this contract, I was fortunate to design and close quite a few deals for $300,000 to over $500,000. Now, here's the neat part. These contracts were for 8-12 jobs a year. The big one, which was then renewed by the same client, was for 24 events over two years. Now, guys, that's what I call security! See, like most Magicians/Mentalists who want to live their passion (performing) while earning their living, I was out there scrambling for every engagement I could book in every venue that came along. You know what I mean...walk-arounds, restaurants, country clubs, after and during breakfasts, lunch and dinners (often time during those meals, schools, kids parties, colleges, association and company meetings, weddings, and special events). And for any amount that I thought the customer would pay me. It was like I really had to live in two worlds in order to pay my bills. The world of SHOW and the more realistic world of BUSINESS. There came a time when I realized that I did not want to spend the rest of my adult life looking for work! I wanted to get up on that stage and show off...entertain...offer people my brand of joy. And to that end, I fell into a venue in 1977 that allowed me to do just that... Trade Shows! It's not that I stopped working many of the other venues...it's that I no longer had to hunt for them. And I did not need to do them to make a living... I could do them for the absolute fun of it. Here a few my concepts to making big bucks in ALL venues, and especially corporate work. They are really very simple and in no specific order....be the best showman I can be; put together routines that are fun, amazing, and logical to the reason I am at this event; be the "REAL DEAL". I mean, do not be a human "acting"... be a human being! Ask for as much payment as I dare, and always be prepared to deliver my best performance every time...and always give added value! There is much more to this answer, but I promised to give you the short version. I am in the throws of writing a book for you folks...because not everyone will choose to buy into my course...so know this about me. When I answer questions like the one posed here by Hart, I am most often not cutting and pasting something that I've already written... I'm writing in the moment and speaking what I believe to be my truth. Hey, it's all I think I know about! And, yes, I do have an ulterior reason for sharing here at the Magic Café. I'm hoping for lots of questions, so I can answer them and create more material for that book I'm writing. So don't be at all surprised if you see some of this stuff between the covers of that book if you are of a mind to read it. Curt, Seth, Timothy, Hart, and Danny...thanks for your comments. As most of you guys know, I have a couple of moderately priced Zellmann Knowledge DVDs in the works, and I hope to be announcing them in a few short weeks. One is a an hour plus Video with additional slides and info that I delivered last November at MindVention, and the other is a DVD with 14 of my best mental routines. This DVD is a combination of 14 video clips of me performing these demonstrations on stage in the real world along with the skinny on the hows and whys of my creating this effect and presentations. Oh-Oh, am I in any hot water for an unabashed commercial here? I must admit to not knowing if it's OK for me to mention this stuff. Bottom line here is that, over the years, I decided to do it differently. I adopted an attitude of work less...earn more...travel well! I hope that all of you can adopt this thinking, as well. |

Great post, Anton. Even though I don't do trade shows, nor have an interest in doing shows for adults-only audiences, I learned something. Thanks!

Anton,
Should someone who is interested in your DVD training package wait for the book instead? What would the differences be? Price tag? Not that your course isn't worth every penny, just wondering. Just as you ask for as much payment as you dare, I try to get the best deal I can get. Thank you for your time; great having you here. |

Examples: Videos of me doing what I am teaching, and these are complete unedited shows from beginning to end. Several are of me delivering the same presentation 2 or 3 times, one after another, so that the viewer can grasp the continuity, sincerity, energy, and enthusiasm that must be part of the performance. There is an archive (browser driven) of many of my documents for my major clients, including proposals, estimates, invoices, and contracts in both PDF and WORD. These can be used as templates. There are complete scripts for 37 different Trade Show and Meeting Presentations with support, such as photos, correspondence, notes, and lists. VERY IMPORTANT!!! The purchaser is licensed to perform any of these 37 shows in their entirety, or in part. There are many other bonuses (gotta love that concept) that will make a person's head spin. And here is the kicker, like Curt explained, I will provide hands on help. I'm offering several hours of hands-on personal consultation with all aspects of your corporate and Trade Show business. I will likely offer around the first 30 who purchase this latest version a full year of personal consultation on any jobs that come up, by phone and email. I have not set the price for the book yet... It will be a price point that respects both your pocketbook and my knowledge. |

I have Anton's material, as well. I have found it to be the best investment in myself to date. He has spent a great deal of time answering every question I ask with great detail. He is an open book you just have to take the time to read. I love that he actually shows himself working at the tradeshows and building the crowds in his material. Do yourself a favor and go look for yourself...

Wow!! I just watched the videos and realized that throughout that entire presentation, it was a win/win situation for everyone. The target group was to receive and learn something of value, the sponsor had their product provided in an
impossible-to-forget situation, and the presenter had a great time. Really justifies the cost, and the ROI is immeasurable. Anton, that was awesome. Tom Boehnlein |

I'll give you the short answer here, and later on I'll be inviting you and others to receive ongoing Trade Show marketing tips that will provide more content. It will vary from company to company, but it's my experience that the people who usually have the most power to decide who and what they want to have representing their products at an exhibit are either the Product Managers or the Marketing Team. It's not always an easy task to get to them. The person who has little power to decide if I get the work or not is the Convention Manger. But it's that same person who acts as a scout for their company. After all, it's the convention manager who goes to every convention, and often in a variety of industry shows. So if he/she sees someone who is capturing and wowing large crowds and is really communicating information for that company, it's in their best interest to introduce me to the decision makers. Hope that helps a bit. AntonZ Posted: Mar 16, 2007 10:03pm Quote: On 2007-03-15 11:49, tboehnlein wrote: Wow!! The Memory show is one of the routines of which I am most proud. And not so incidentally, it was the routine that has earned me the most money. I leave it on my site for sharing purposes only. It is not there as an invitation for anyone to duplicate it. In fact, I am always on the lookout for a seasoned performer to become a protege who will go out and perform this specific presentation. And thanks for referring to the show as awesome...that, young man, is a first! And I sort of like it... |

Dean,
To answer your PS first... I must admit to not having any knowledge about your radio show...but I'd be delighted to join you on your program. When you are ready, give me a call and let's talk about it. As for conducting a multi-day... It's absolutely in my plans to do this. In fact, back in November of 2006, when Joel Bauer and I lectured at a boot camp, Joel suggested that we do one together. I loved the idea. Can you imagine it? Two guys who did pretty well in the Trade Show venue, who worked the shows at the same time with two totally different personalities and delivery styles, and up to that moment in time had never met, with so much hands-on knowledge to share. The plan, as I recall it, was that after we both delivered our lectures, we would take a reality check to see if those at this event would have any interest in attending such a weekend with the two of us and what they would be willing to pay to attend. Well, I've already admitted that I did a horrible job with my lecture, and so as it worked out, Joel told me that he would prefer not to do the three-day event with me. Now he didn't say that it was because of my poor performance, but I'm sure it was the reason... And frankly, I could not blame him. How could he know that what he saw that night was not who I really was as a speaker and performer...? He had nothing but my input on the matter. I don't think that he wanted to invest any more time in what he must have perceived as a rank amateur. Actually, I've been a bit surprised that Joel is going to do this Trade Show event on his own since he told me that he didn't want to do this type of event at this point and time in his career. Maybe I'll call him and see what changed. So, yes, I am planning a special event for those interested in working corporate trade shows and meetings. But first, I must finish creating this latest product, which is a disk or two filled with videos of me performing fourteen of my original mental routines along with all of the facts about how and why I designed them, what I would do differently, how effective they were or were not, and how I accomplished each effect. I would like to have everything in place before I go to that next level. Love from AntonZ Posted: Mar 17, 2007 12:31pm Quote: On 2007-03-15 11:49, tboehnlein wrote: Wow!! The reason that Joel is doing his thing is because Jack Turk (who owns "The Magic Marketing Center") asked if he would. They did a free, "pre-interest teleseminar" and got enough people to go ahead and do it...that's all.
I was already booked the year you spoke, otherwise I would have been there too, as I had spoken three separate years at the Dave Dee Conferences...(more than any other speaker but Dave himself). I wish I was available, but relationships are too important...you know. I will call you, and we can discuss the options and interest in coming on the "Success Madness Radio Show" sometime. Rick Thomas, Chris Carey, Kevin James, Scott Wells, Harry Anderson, Mark Wilson...and hundreds of others all have come and chatted with us on "Magic Broadcast" at one time or another. http://www.MagicBroadcast.com Free success and support for magicians BY magicians! - Whoo Hoo! Hi Anton,
I watched the videos on your site and thought that they were fantastic. The product tie-ins, and using the memory system to remember the products, was great. The memory trick to get people to comeback to the booth and bring others... I was very impressed. I also still remember the names of the three people in the demonstration, and that was 3 days ago.
