If you want to hassle them for a refund, go to ConAgra.com. You'll have to poke around for the news link, but they offer a refund.

I found 2 jars of the stuff here with the 2111 code on it; one was half eaten. Fortunately no problems, but not taking any more chances.

Here is what I found on their site regarding refunds:

******************************************************

"If consumers have this product, they should discard it, but save the product lid. For a full refund, consumers must return the Peter Pan Peanut Butter or Great Value Peanut Butter product lid along with their name and mailing address to ConAgra Foods, P.O. Box 3768, Omaha, NE 68103."

WalMart's Great Value brand was also part of this recall, but only those jars processed at a specific Georgia plant. They had the 2111 code number, as well.

"Gerald, what's your favorite Peanut Butter...?"

(no answer)

"GERALD, what's your favorite Peanut Butter?!?"

"Skippy" (spoken with a mouthful of PB&J)

"Mom! Gerald's talking with his mouth full again!"

How many of you remember that one?
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Smucker's All Natural Chunky Peanut Butter is the only one the wife and I eat.
...So we're safe.
Suddenly I'm not so upset about having a non-Peter Pan version of the Peanut Butter & Jelly Trick!

I dodged a bullet. I usually buy Peter Pan, but for some reason the last jar I bought was Jiff. I think it was divine intervention, like when all those bullets missed Jules and Vincent, right?

I bought two jars of the "No Sugar Added" Peter Pan... I have been trying to cut the amount of sugar I take in... thought it would be better for me. I had eaten about half of one jar when I saw the news... both jars had the 2111 number. So much for trying eat better.

Aside from the possible salmonella, what did you think about it? My dad had a jar of Sugar free Jiff over at his house and I made a sandwich with that and I couldn't stand it.

Quick question for everybody: Which do you prefer more (or usually eat)- a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or just a plain peanut butter sandwich?

Friends of mine don't believe me when I tell them what I'm about to reveal here. But I swear it's true!

I, Lyndel at my current age of 42, have never eaten a peanut butter & jelly sandwich - not even as a kid.

I have no alergies to either ingredient, but the idea of those two items in a sandwich together give me the heebie jeebies.

I can eat a jelly sandwich and I'm OK with peanut butter in something like a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup, but I pretty much only buy peanut butter as a treat for my two labrador retreivers...

Exactly how are you using that peanut butter to "treat" the dogs? I heard this story once, about some lady...

My boss, (at my "real" job), has been sick for nearly a month now.
...He found out yesterday it's because he's been eating peanut butter on a daily basis. Yup...It's Peter Pan with the exact lot number that was indicated as tainted. He stopped eating it as soon as he found out and you could tell by looking at him that he has started to feel better. He's been in touch with his doctor.

Spinach, lettuce and now peanut butter. With all the problems with the natural foods lately, maybe I should start considering a diet of Twinkies.
