Racer Back's are available (just picked up both red and blue decks).

They are #1 in the series.

They can't just put them on hold Smile

Most online stores where I have seen these cards only have the small scan of the ugly (and very disappointingly un-retro) box artwork. You can't even see the pattern properly. That, the higher than regular price and the fact that they don't come in larger box sets like daniel1113 mentioned doesn't help their sales.

A lot of people would buy these if they knew how incredibly beautiful the fan backs are, for instance. And that they come with blank extra cards.

I bought 6 packs which is too few to actually use them in case they are pulled and too many to save for a collection. I guess I will need a few boxes more. Although I don't like using regular Bicycle type cards much really. Too bad one cannot have any design at any thickness. (ADAAT lol) Smile

I agree...the artwork on the backs are gorgeous!!!

The online sites don't do the decks any justice....I had to see them in person to truly appreciate how sweet they looked. I personally like the safety back deck... it looks like the design was etched or carved by hand.

As a side note....Racer Backs are #1 in the series, not #8 like previously thought.

If you want to order them, check out Morrissey's Magic...they have all of them, including the 6 deck gift set. I will ask Dan to put a better scan of the backs of the Vintage Designs on their website.

Unfortunately the decks are a bit too expensive to use, so I'm only collecting them, but I have held a deck of cards that was open, and they feel very nice...almost like the Tally Ho's....and the blank cards are a nice addition. Curious as to why they put blanks in the deck, and why they're not really being advertised as having blank cards?

Jason England (who frequents this forum) had a site with a friend that had scans of a lot of old Bicycle backs. I believe there were about 80 different designs in all. If you can get ahold of the site or either Nathan or Jason it is a cool thing to look at their scans.

The site was called playing cards for magicians.

The pages on the university site where it was originally hosted are now gone. I hope they moved it to a server somewhere as it was a great resource.

I wonder why someone like Ellusionist who have the means to make custom decks don't make something like the fanbacks into a Masters grade product. (Or bring back any of the other extinct greats for that matter, like Tahoes. Imagine the "Tahoe Revisited" deck. Or "Return to Tahoe". hehe. Same paper and feel but with the new casino machine presision finish and an upgraded box design to prevent eBayers from reselling them as antiques. Maybe a subtle back makeover too, retaining the original style.)

I guess the blank cards are for left handed seemingly blank fans. That's what I will use them for at least. If I ever have the heart to use my decks.

My thought was that the fanbacks had those blank cards since they were... well... fanbacks. They have fans on them and look unusually beautiful in a double fan like Tally Ho fanbacks also do.

The cupid backs I bought didn't have blank cards.
