I recently purchased Bob Cassidy's Bottle of Truth which is a prediction effect using a pool table and playing cards. Cards are spread out on the pool table, a spectator breaks, and the card under a specific numbered ball has been predicted. The Tally bottle (for playing kelly pool) is hardly ever available in the venues I'd perform the routine in so I'm reaching out to see if there are other sources for this type of effect.

Bob:I believe Patrick Kuffs has a similar offering in one of his e-books.I think a Café search should track it down.

The Kuff's method requires minimal pool playing skills... in fact, you don't really need to be playing the game at all as I recall..just be around some specs who do.

I hear another guy has an interesting application of Patrick Kuffs Effect as well. I also heard that Kuffs was fooled by it too! I can't mention his name but I'm sure you'd be Mind Tapped if I told you.

The Pool Pro's I saw doing this 20 years ago used an Invisible Deck.

I can be mistaken, but I thought that Paul Hallas had a similar effect in print once... although I believe there was only an invisible pool table in play, so perhaps this won't fit your criteria...

I'll see if I can track down the Kuffs routine. In the mean time, a few people responded privately and we're working on something using picture cards instead of playing cards. If you think of any other sources for this, please send them to me.
Thanks folks.

A routine using picture cards and a modified method is exactly what the gent mentioned above performs. As this is a public board, I'd prefer not to go into specifics. I'm sure Candini or another member here can point you to the right video clip/performer.

The premise of knocking billiard balls around and having a named ball "choose" a predicted card belongs to Eddie Fields. He used the UM deck sitting on the rail for the prediction. Jay Marshall dated Fields' performing this back to the early 1960s.
If there is a precedent in the world of "pool pros," I'd love to know about it. SWN |

I suspect that Fields is indeed the originator and sebsequent "Pool Pro's" have borrowed the effect from him.
