I'm looking to dip my feet into puppetry/vent as an addition to my current act. I was thinking of buying one of the puppets (little girl) that La Rock's has for $30. http://www.larocksmagic.com Has anyone hear tried them?

I started out with something similar that I bought at a stand in Florida Mall. They look great to me - nice big mouth movement and lots of character. And at that price you can't go wrong! Let us know how it works out for you.

One inexpensive way to start vent/puppetry is to use a sock as puppet! You may even surprise yourself creatively while you are creating your own custom-made sock puppet.
Even pro vents, like Ronn Lucas and Shari Lewis, used sock puppets in their shows.

The two most famous sock puppets I know are Lambchop with Sheri Lewis and the dog for the "1-800-bar none" car financing website. Interestingly, the dog actually was originally used for a pet supply website that shut down. He became so famous that he was farmed out for other ads.

I went ahead and got the queen puppet from La Rock's. She came home today, my new Princess Adorabelle! A perfect addition...I love her. I was a kid who was obsessed with dolls, and I used to stay up late and play with them even after I was "too old" to. A friendly beautiful princess puppet is giving me an excuse to play with puppets again!

I still use socks in my routine. They can really sock it to you..as much impact as my fully loaded size 7 vent figure..(and much lighter to use and transport.

There is even 2(socks that is) in a bank commercial.(USA)
