Hello all... Just a heads up, Self Opening Soda is online with a new video- so now there is a street performance video (that someone said looks like an episode of COPS) but lets you see that it CAN be done just about anywhere.
There is also a nice personal demo where you can really SEE and HEAR the can opening. The printed versions are being printed now and will be ready right around the end of the month. Thanks to those who have been asking! http://www.leapinglizardsmagic.com/nefesch.htm

Yeah... that was me. It's dark, outside, around some cars, and you hear sirens; COPS!! C'mon...You know that's funny. Any way... The new video does look cool. Randi |

Is the SOS E-book in PDF or EXE format?

Eric- PDF watermarked with your info. We don;t have any EXE format stuff yet, though we may go that route with some.

You either already HAVE the special something, or can get it from most magic dealers cheaply. And several of the variations don't need any special anything.

Very tempting. Does it open all the time, or only sometimes?

Not sure what you mean? But, if you do it right, it will always work. The manuscript includes the original SOS, a Do it without the something version, Another to it without ANY gimmick or ANY prep version, an "Exploding" can version, and a self openning bottle idea as a little bonus.

I predict that in the near future this will become the standard way to open a soda can for many of us even when not performing, just to fool our selfs.

Nicolas,
SOS is new. I haven't read the Harkey lecture in what feels like a hundred years, if I recall is came out late 80's, and don;t even really recall his method in any detail. But SOS was nothing I had ever seen before.

Get the dwnload this morning. Since I only have a quick look on the instruction, this is only my first impression rather than an revw.
The instruction is as before, very details and with lots of photo. So there shouldn't have any problem to understand the trick. The effect itself, apparently, is not as good and practical as Hatching. There is a lot of preparation work need to do in the setup version. The borrow can version is not as practical as hatching. Or to say, you will need to have a good skill hand and a lot of practice in order to do the impromptu version. Yet, this type of magic is supposed to use borrowed can. So the only solution is to switch it with our prepared one. Overall, it is stil a good trick but a bit overpriced. Since I bought hatching first and expected the same quality, it is a bit disappointed. Still, I am looking forward for the next magic from nefesch - the frozen coin. Hopes that it will be as good as hatching. |

I also got mine this AM and really like it. Yes, the totally improptu method with a borrowed can requires more practice, skill... but I think they were pretty clear on that.
I will probably opt for the semi set-up method until I get better with the gaff... But I really like this. It does what it says it does! Also, it really is thorough with pic's and stuff like that! Hatching rocks too, but SOS could find its way into my show... Gotta practice. The volcano thing was pretty fun too... Seems like something not talked about is a variation of this could be used for other effects with a soda can too.... I'll have to brainstorm on this. |

I thought I would give a review once I was able to successfully prepare a can. A 6-pack of Dr. Pepper later and I still have had no such luck. I think it's because my ****b is too big and the only other solution for that ends up wrecking the prep work. There is an inconsistency in the visual aspect of the effect that should be considered. Anyone else got this to work yet?
