What is a good wireless headset mic. If it has a body pack that's ok. doesn't need to be areobic. It will be used with a fender amp can. I need to replace my headset and it was a piece of junk from the start.

It also costs $600.00, and that's just the mic cable, to say nothing of the wireless system it is connected to.
Anton, do you have a system already, or are you still looking for something compatible with your Amp Can? Also, do you plan on using this system with escape routines? If so, that will make a big difference. |

Not any escapes for "things going over the head". In my show at the moment all the big escapes have been taken out. So this will be for my juggling, sideshow stunts and unicyling mostly. The areobic headset Ive seen costs 300$ Im looking for somthing less than that maybe around 150 or somthing. It doesn't need to be gold or anything just better than my old "no brand name" piece of junk I had.
Any info would be great! Anton |

The Countryman mic retails for around $375.00. I LOVE mine. I actually forget that I'm wearing it most of the time and the clarity is outstanding. I use mine with a Shure transmitter for my Fender 250 system and the included transmitter with my PASO 50 battery-powered PA. It was worth saving for.
Before this I had a Sampson Aerobic headset that was a feedback pain and I had to constantly keep adjusting.

Is a wireless system absolutely essential for busking?
I have a nice, clear, projecting theatre voice and have seen guys on the street both with and without systems. Any thoughts on this, folks?

I know it's a little off subject but I wanted to mention that I just got a "belly amp" with a headset for 103 bucks and it seems pretty nice. It's lite weight but has a good sound for a crowd of 50-100 people. It's a small light weight amp on a belt and comes with a headset (not wireless). http://www.camcor.com/cgi-bin/cat/id=986317048 check it out for whatever it's worth...you can read more on it at http://www.scoundrelsforum.com/index.php?topic=1136.0

Nice thanks.
I will agree an amp is not essential for busking. It can make life easier though when doing bigger shows. Advice givent to me when I first started out was not to use one as it forced higher energy. I found this to be quite true. Lack of amp can make you sweat quite a bit more. When I am not doing my unicycle/juggling show I do a small/short (like 15-20min 3 tricks) magic set on a little colapseable table I made and do not use an amp for this. Well I have but that was during a holiday fest and there was a lot to compeat with so I opted not to kill my voice. Also that was a day of endless foot trafic and I planned on working all day and doing the set a near 20-22 times. Well none of this is important but thought it might add to the convo on using a stage voice. Being able to project your voice is a very good skill to have and its just that a skill. You don't need to be naturaly loud to do it...but that sure helps. Its good when the sound man has tec problems and you need to go without it at a show. Some people start to yell but that's just rough on you and the audience. Blah blah blah. Still any sugestions on a wireless headset? Anton p.s. Amon Ive seen people use the item you pointed out. They like it and if I were doing somthing diffrent I would too! |
