Where would you say is the best place to buy books on the Internet?
I have been to many sites and more often than not they are advertising items they do not carry or can no longer order. For example, The Earths largest Magic Store (www.elmagicshop.com) lists lots of out of print items without saying they are not available. They do list some titles as not available so I would assume they would actually carry the titles that don't say "not available"... so much for that assumption. I had to cancel my order. I then went to Illusions Magic & Costume (www.illusionsmagic.com), their catalog was to good to be true so I emailed them about it and received a very curt reply about it. Apparently they know and don't care. So I figured I would give Misdirections (www.misdirections.com) a shot. They to have an incredible list of "in stock" books. It actually looks as if they have every book published in the last 20 years. I make a quick call and find out from the guy behind the counter that their web page *IS* up to date, they just don't have any of the out of print items. Hmmm... that sure sounds like an up to date catalog to me. The guy even hung up on me when I asked him why they were listing the OOP print books. OK, sorry for the rant, I am just getting tired of all the false advertising going on. In case anyone is interested I have had really good experience with two online shops. Both The Magic Warehouse (www.themagicwarehouse.com) and Magic Books By Post (www.magicbooksbypost.co.uk) have actually had everything they said they had and also had very very good service. Kyle |

Hi,
Yes, for me http://www.themagicwarehouse.com is the best, the other reliable stores are: http://www.magicbookshop.com http://www.elmwoodmagic.com http://www.llpub.com http://www.mymagic.com The WORST internet store for me is http://www.HANKLEE.COM, If you live in the US or Canada you may try to order from them but if you live some where else I advise you NOT to order from that store. I have a bad experience with my 1st order, credit card is charged but the item is not fully delivered. I've heard they have a good service if you ordered by phone. Jeff

I'm in the US, but I've never had any problem with Hank Lee's service.
MJM is also pretty reliable.

If it is in print, Misdirections has it. It is by far one of the best shops in the country.

They literally list every book that's come out in years, in print or not. I guess they just want you to think they have the best selection on the net. That's not good service IMHO. They actually hung up on me when I started asking why they were listing things they *KNOW* they did not have in stock. TERRIBLE SERVICE.... Kyle |

I've had a good experience buying book from MJM Magic and H&R books. They served very well dan fast enough in shipping (even to my country). Their shipping cost for foreign order are also reasonable.

All of the above are excellent. Don't forget Bradbury books - they have regular e-mails, a reverse auction on titles and an excellent service.
I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three. Elayne Boosler

H&R, Madhatter Magic, and Hocus Pocus are excellent. Their prices and service are fantastic. H&R has some of those hard to find things. Madhatter will beat others prices. Some of those listed above don't have secure websites. I would not recommend anyone without a secure website. Identity theft is a big issue with me.

Don't order from Hocus Pocus if you're in Canada: shipping rates are very expensive! I was charged about 35% extra for shipping on a number of occasions, until I finally got smart.
I like LLPUB and MJM.

I have never seen such impeccable service as that from H & R Magic Books and Richard Hatch.
That, plus the incredible real-time inventory, makes them the first place I go to. My hat off to them! They have earned my complete trust. |

I just bought a few things from Midwest Magic (https://www.midwestmagic.net/shop) and I have to say the service and selection was incredible. Tim Felix was very helpful and sent my order out right away. I will definitely use them again.
