Hello all,
I have recently posted my version of the Ambitious Card on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtf8B7TDezA It is called The Elusive Ace of Hearts. I hope you enjoy it and look forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks! Steven |

I really liked the production and music performed by you, and thought that this was one of the best ones I've seen so far with subtitles (I won't go into putting subtitles vs not putting subtitles because IMO, it's just pure difference in taste.
Few things I found though - - I think the get ready for DLs, while looking "pretty", raises alarm to some degree. Try to do push off double and then go into shapeshifter if you'd like to get the impression that the card really was single. - I felt that although the moves were slow, they didn't really flow - it seemed at points as if you were handling water in a cellopane wrap. Slow, graceful handling is recommended, but I believe that varying speed and emphasizing important parts of the routine could look more natural than having one pace throughout the whole routine. Along with the music which has one slow pace throughout, I think it might be just a tad bit too slow - I found the card controlling handling (the name of it escapes my head atm but it's the one where you insert the card into the right hand fan) a little awkward and that it had too many movements. I think a quick flourish (one hand close of a fan) could help with it. - The pop-out move could be done a little better, but it's a knack so there's nothing much else to do but practice - I think pacing the routine and having some parts where it's fast could help with it though. The only problem that I have with the card popping out not as much is that it really looks as if the card just came from the bottom. Lastly to put, these are just personal opinion. Not knowing who you are, and how you do IRL, its kind of hard judging by one video clip but I hope you found some of the points helpful! |

Mc_magi,
Absolutely I found these points helpful! The subtitles have been a point of contention amongst others, some like, some don't. I felt it helped where actual patter was nonexistant. (In performance, I do have patter, however, on a webcam, it does not sound very good.) The other points are well taken and will be considered as I refine the routine. I like that you discussed the pace. My personal feeling was that many videos I have seen were just 'let me get through this quick' without letting the viewer enjoy what has happened. However, varying the pace seems to be a better way to go. By the way, I love that description, 'handling water in a cellophane wrap.' That sounds so poetic. Steven |

Hi,
yeah some things need to be improved but don't worry you didn't flashed anything. All in all a different ACR as we usually see. Keep it up,practice hard and be natural greetings Jerry |

Jerry,
Thanks for the post. I was trying to achieve a different ACR than the usual routines that many use. Practice is constant, makes it fun! Steven |
