That was pretty good. I would like to see the whole routine.
Odd how someone would want to see the obvious happen magically.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

Thanks for sharing that, Chris. That was a lovely clip.

I'll have to see if I can find a Region 2/PAL version.

One unusual thing about Magic & Mystery Tour is that Penn & Teller aren't doing post-modern magic routines. When they film great magicians doing great tricks, they let the awe of the magic stand on its own. When the great magician with the masks performs his routine, for example, Penn and Teller gush with praise, and don't tip any secrets. I recall only one big post-modern magic routine where Penn & Teller stage a version of the Indian Rope Trick. Of course, they stage that version of the Indian Rope Trick that magic historians determined has never been actually performed. (i.e. The one where the boy climbs up the rope and disappears, the father climbs up after him, hacks the boy apart, and then the pieces come flying back to the ground, etc.)

Although I'm not a fan of the Penn and Teller act, Teller himself is a brilliant magical mind with a lots of interesting thoughts and ideas.
He has TONS more potential than we see him display in Penn and Teller, and is actually quite an interesting public speaker on the topic of magic. |
