On another note... there are many many other tricks that I didn't demo from 5x5 Japan. One obvious one is Masao Atsukawa's "Fabric Through Card" (I forgot if that's the exact title as I don't have the book beside me)

I think it is reasonable for the book to be sold at reasonable price. But if you ask me if I will pay US$50 for the book, I can definitely tell you that I will not. If people think it worths more than USD100, then I must have missed some great stuffs. Out of print does not mean it contains many gems...people pay that much because they pay for the mystery of the book, not for the material inside the book.

It is stupidly easy to raise the price of magic stuff by hype alone, $500 for these books is absolutely insane.
Recently, someone singlehandedly raised the price of Webers Lifesavers from around $60 to $150 by drunkenly bidding on it on ebay! |

Let me make myself clear... These books are good... no doubt about that... but the price is too over the bar.

I didn't say the book is not good. I said 'it is overly priced'
If Richard Kaufman re-printed the books at USD80, I am really interested to know how many people will say 'Richard, you price RIGHT!!!'. Just a poll, how many of you will buy the book at USD80 after it is reprinted, WITHOUT a single word of complaint? And how much do you think the book should be? Alex Hui

Those books are actually pretty hard to find nowadays. If you are lucky though, you can find one on ebay from time to time.

Well, it looks as though I was wrong and Richard Kaufman WILL be reprinting New Magic of Japan and 5x5 Japan. Here's the link:
http://geniimagazine.com/forum/cgi-bin/u......t=002773 Not sure about 5x5 Japan, but it's safe to assume he'll reprint both these books. |

I really hope the reprint will happen - it seems as if it is on and off. I will surely be on the pre-order list. Perhaps there will be even an early bird discount?

Wow, I sure hope that's true and that we'll be able to see a reprint of New Magic of Japan and hopefully Five times Five Japan too. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

I guess, some mailing to Richard will support the case.
