Which one is the most valuable book to do stage illusion from Andrew Mayne?
I have heard that Andrew Mayne tricks are kind of cheasy and not convincing. Is that true? |

I am not a professional magician and I have built the Shadow Box from Andrew Mayne's book. My son who is 7 years old performed it.
Two things here : 1. For people whose budget is limited and who do not perform regularly, Mayne's books are the best source 2. If my 7 yr old could perform, it shows the simplicity. Sudheer |

I really like Andrew's thinking. I think most of the products he puts out are very usable. Illusion FX and Solo-X are very good.

I love Andrew's material. His Impact Illusion series is great that give step by step instructions on how to build the items on a limited budget. Andrew does not give you a routine/theme however. You must create the theme and routine around the effect to make it yours. Andrew does a great job of describing the illusion and how to build it with inexpensive materials. His "Illusion Tech" book is good for theory, but there are buildable things in there. Also his "Secret Illusion Show" has some great material for a low budget.
Illusion FX and Solo-X books are good if you have a bit larger budget and can build. The concepts are there, but not specific building plans measured out for you (like the Illusion Impact Series does). Hope that helps.

If you are just starting to get into stage illusions Andrews books are very good. He has lots of practical ideas and by reading his stuff you really start to develope the proper creative mind-set for designing your own ideas. Illusions don't have to cost a fortune and he is very good at showing this
