Ok so I was competing at a convention last month, and I was really nervous. But I had about 2 hours until showtime and I get a phone call saying that one of my doves was dying (as in it was laying on it's side) and I was not going to be able to use it. It would have been ok if it had been one of my white ones, but it wasn't. It was my green one, the one that I use for my dove split (the one that gets the harness). So I end up having to borrow one of the other contestants doves, to replace my white one that I had to dye green (actually my grandpa dyed it while I worked with the borrowed dove), half hour before showtime. My mom was standing there with a hair dryer drying my dove. Then I was practicing with my very wet dove and my harness broke, so we had to track down some fishing line. Then about 5 min before the show started I saw that my outfit was still up in the room, so my mom had to run and get it. So by the time the show went on I was extremely nervous. But the show went very well, and I ended up winning. So it turned out to be ok except that later that day my dove really did die, so that was kind of upsetting because it was a great dove. So I guess this proves that anything CAN happen when your working with animals.

Welcome to the world of showbusiness-If anything that can go wrong at some stage it will
A top professional I know in the 80's had his doves killed at a nightclub by other performers on the club circuit before he went on!!, Drugs & alcohol mainly!! His wife & assistant was threatened & until he did some great close up backstage & impressed everyone from Drag queens to Musicians was then left alone!!! They also glued his Zig Zag Illusion shut-He had gear stolen backstage etc etc..... We love this craft!!!!!! Well done dude -Brent |

Yeah, I now know to take an extra dove and food coloring with me to all my shows. I usually do but I did not have an extra dove to take with me this time.

Um, yeah I definitly was really upset about the dove, I was worried about it I had a vet check it out before the contest. I care about my animals, I'm sorry it came off that way I did not mean it like that. They are not accessories, you can ask my family I was really upset about losing my dove. But I also had to go on I could not let my dove dying affect my performance, I was upset but that was not going to stop me from performing.
