Hi, I've got the Magic of Mike Ammar book with me, and this particular trick intrigues me very much. However, I can't quite understand his explanations, and the illustrations seem to defy the laws of physics! This trick is his linking of a ring and elastic band, and the unlinking thereof. Can anyone help me? Are there any alternative places i could learn this from (preferably not too expensive, the book cost me a bomb!)? Or could someone put up a video showing more clearly how this is done? Thanks for any replies!

Isawthat, PM me and I will send you a video of the explaination to this effect.
I do the Simon Aronson routine of the link and unlinking of the ring and rubber band. In my opinion, it's the best out there

I also had trouble learning the Ammar version, I also tried A Marriage of Conveinience by Bill Kalush. I now only only use Simon Aronson's version found in his book Try The Impossible. It is the best I have seen.

You can try my method called "The Joining". It uses a totally different method of linking the ring on the band that can be examined before and after.

It's hard to explain how to do it any better than Ammar did in his book, so I can't help you there. I can say that I learned this trick by following the instructions in the book, and I use it all the time. It is well worth the effort even if it takes some time. Keep at it, you won't be sorry!

Dan Harlan has a series of videos on rubber band magic. He goes over this illusion in his video "The Band Shark". Smile

It sounds like he's talking about Ammars variant of Kalushes "Rubber Ringer".

If so, a very clear writeup of that effect exists in "Richards Collected Almanac".

i've switched methods...now I'm using Aronson's routine and Jeff's "The Joining". Trying to compile a mini ring and rope routine using rubber bands and a finger ring, not for any other reason except that it interests me Smile
