Do gaffed tables such as these exist? It would be used to give tarot readings. The seater and the performer would see the selected cards on top of the table, only the performer would have from his perspective secret information, such as the meaning of the cards. Basically I´m looking for an expendient way of giving quick readings without an in-depth knowledge of the meanings of the cards. I do have some knowledge of the major arcana, but the minor one gives me some grief...
Thank you. |

The system I teach in my books and CD's would probably take you 2 days to learn. And it is Legit.

Leaping Lizards:
2 days to learn, but a lifetime to master (well, a long time anyway). Reading is much more than the knowledge of how a system works. (You already know this, I'm saying this incase there is confusion). There is no quick way to be able to do proper readings. Claudio: Yes, they do exist in private collections for the most part. I've been doing this for a life time, and have only seen pictures of one such table. It was manufactured for Houdini so that he could use it in his debunk shows. During the heyday of Spiritualism, many of the "fraudulent" mediums were failed conjurers, or conjurers who discovered that they could use their ways of trickery and capitalize on the public's interest. It is this sort of folk that would have had such a device. (They could not help but think like magicians.) Tony |

Yes absolutely Tony... A lifetime to master!
Longer I think if one was using a crib sheet built into a table

I agree completely with Tony...
BUT In an effort to start somewhere, and given your actual need, allow me to say two words: Tick Sheet It sounds to me like you're needing a prompt for the minor arcana... and possibly a good system for the major too. The truth is that you can give your reading using any oracle really. You just need to be comfortable using it, and must know what to say and how to say it. Picking up a good system that includes Tick Sheets will be of great help to you. I beleive Loren Tindall (www.mevproshop.com) offers a Tarot package with Tick Sheets. Bev Moore has a Speed Learning Palmistry package with Tick Sheets. Then there is Jim Callahan's Lo Shu, Loren Tindall's Pendulum package, etc etc (also with Tick Sheets). And humbly, for an intuitive approach to reading, my own Simple ESP Card Reading System can be adapted to various situations. Enrique Enriquez's Invisible Tarot is also an intuitive approach that will make you stand out fom other Tarot readers. I hope this helps. |

All of the above are also a lot cheaper and more portable than a gimmicked table

I have a diagram of such a table in my book "The Collected OORT."
The design has the advantage that the notes are in plain sight to the reader, but the querent cannot see them.

There is no reason you should need notes, especially with a tick sheet. If you know that little about your system you are not ready yet.
That being said, it actually takes much less time than you might think to learn the basics of the major systems, Tarot and palm. For palm reading Bev's Speed Learning Palm Reading in Your Own Words will get you the basics. You can supplement those basics rapidly with more in depth books you can find in the library or for pennnies on amazon. This will get you doing compentent palm readings very quickly. For tarot go to http://tarotforum.net/ , also look at the tarot basics threads, a few stickies at the top of the using tarot cards section. That link is http://tarotforum.net/forumdisplay.php?s......&f=8 Psi co's recommendations above are also excellent, especially Invisible Tarot. |

Use what you're comfortable with
Just use the major arcana if you know them, there's nothing wrong in that If you are just giving quick readings you don't need anything else anyway And people who come for quick readings probably won't be the type who are that bothered anyway Concentrate on busking with the layouts of the major arcana, try something a little different (as in incorporating some of EE's Invisible Tarot ideas into the mix) and you can go on for days with just a few cards Less is more - learn to use what you know more effectively instead of learning more card meanings or trying to 'cheat' - it just won't result in effective readings |

Funny Bev, I was thinking the same thing about Enrique's Invisible Tarot. If Claudio knows the imagery associated with each card of the major arcana he's good to go.
As for "learn to use what you know more effectively instead of learning more," doesn't that apply to so many things in life? And it is all a bit paradoxical given that in using what we alreday know more effectively we will learn things we couldn't learn otherwise. Things that can't be cribbed . |

I've put together a rather good tick sheet that is used for basic Lu Shu Grid - Chinese Numerology that does the trick rather well. Sometimes, we might learn a bit more by doing such things for ourselves rather than rush off with the VISA.. Just a thought. |

And I would think that supporting one another is a good thing. Of course anyone is able to put in the work and make their own tick sheets, it goes without saying. But don't you think we should also give credit where credit is due? After all, if you think about it, it's only because someone has already done the work that you have the notion of making your own. |

I have been away for a few days and did not get back to this thread before today. Thank you all for your suggestions and I will take some of them on board.
