Hi Mop,
You might try talking to Peter White at PA Silks. They do excellent custom work. If you can't find it give me a PM & I'll hook you up. Manyfingers |

I make all my own streamers in 6 or 8mm. They can be hand painted, tie dyes or solid colors. Normal widths are 9" and 12" and lengths from 6' to 150'. I also make special lengths, sizes or colors as needed. It is all pure China silk, double turned and hemmed. Dale Salwak, David Seebach, Mark Kalin, and Arden James are among my customers.
If you are familar with it, a Rosini-style silk winder is a great way to load a streamer. I have begun to manufacture these also. You can get a 12" x 200' streamer in a pop can. Check out the catalog on the website or contact me for more information. Richard

I have a question. I've never used a streamer but have a Sq Circle that has a tube diameter of about 5 in diameter and 11 in high. Wanted to know the maximum streamer length I could use for it. Im looking at a 4 in by 30 ft in length streamer. Thanks.
PS: Never even come close to streamer magic:)

Disregard....I received my 4 in by 30 ft streamer from Magicauction.com and it took up less than a half inch in my SC. I could see how a 100 ft one would be an outstanding effect now:)

In summary, Silk King, P&A, Laflin & Hughes all have streamers. You might be able to get hold of Magic Hands silks. These vary widely in price partly because of the fabric (Japan is considered the best origin), dying (vibrancy of the colors, number of colors and or design) and some will say hem quality and presence of a hem. All the silks will be durable. Some say the high end silks are more vibrant.

Sorry that I never seen this thread.
DoveLite Silk does still have 8" x 30 foot streamers. We liquidated our 4" x 30 foot streamers years ago. True to magic, the demand for them simply vanished! The demand for long streamers appears to have given way to using the Line of Silks. They don't twist like old style streamers do. Also if there is ever damage, the individual silk can be replaced rather than ruining the whole streamer. They also give great coverage for body loads. |

I still make the long streamers but the cost really rocks a lot of people.
If you use a silk winder, it is the perfect item to load a huge silk into a small area and it will come out untwisted. Richard

On the Paul Diamond video on silk magic, he explains the "Rosini Silk Winder" and how to wrap it so the streamer comes out correctly and not twisted.

If this is the same Rosini Silk Winder (well made from brass) I got from Tannen's fifty years ago, it only works on very narrow streamers 4" or less. What I am observing today is that the pros are using streamers at least 8" wide and up to 36" wide. The Line of Silks comes in 9", 12", 18" and 24" sizes. Tannen's used to carry the 12" size decades ago when they were also publishers.
Unfortunately today many "silk" props and "Silk tricks" are not silk. Pure 100% silk takes much less space than the "blends" and synthetics. In stage lights it really is inferior. |

Yes, Bob, that is the Silk Winder I was referring to, but Paul Diamond used a wider silk then 4 inches. It has been a while since I watched the video, but it was totally surprising how he could put a 75 to 100 foot streamer in a Coca Cola can. My point was he taught how to wind the silk so it came out flat surface to the audience.
Line O' Silks is a nice production item as well. Still waiting on your method of loading the Line O' Silks though. How about getting out your camera and writing it out with photos. I would really like that information. Paul Diamond says he use to have them made for his magic business. To bad, I never purchased one, the loading information came to late after he was out of business. |

I still make the Rosini winder. It works great on larger width streamers. I have used it on 12" wide without any problem.

How long is the slotted shaft on the larger ones? Mine was only about 5".

I don't have it here in front of me right now as I am out of town. I think it is about 8". I can make it longer if needed.

Yes, Paul no longer has his wonderful store in Searstown, Ft Lauderdale (fond memories there, for sure!) But he still runs an online dealership mainly via email. If anyone is interested in the video you might check with him via his email mrhumble at bellsouth.net It seems to me that he has gotten to be even more of a curmudgeon in his later years, so--well, just tell him you want to be on his list for deals when you email him about the videos. |
