SweetM, I showed this to my wife who recognized it immediately as a song she had learned when she was a little girl growing up in Takasaki Japan. The song is about a Budist priest dancing with racoons. The part you quoted was the beginning of the song. Below are the words for the first lines as she remembers them and the English translation.
Japanese lines: Sho sho sho jo ji Sho jo ji no ni wa wa Tsu tsu tsukiyo da Minna dete koi koi koi English Translation: Sho jo ji (name of a temple) moon light on the garden come out everybody Regards, Bob |

Awesome!!!!! You would not believe how often in the last 20 years that I've tried to get that info. Thanks so much. Does the Mrs. know any other info or words to the song? I can remember singing more, what seems to be the final verse. I can kind of hear the theme but not remembering the words, if that makes any sense?
Kind of odd.......we moved all over the place when I was growing up. Funny thing is, it appears that you are from MD, and that's where we lived (in a suburb just outside of Baltimore) before the moved to Japan. Anyway, thanks again. A neat way to start my day.
