Hey guys new lover of magic having trouble with easy trick. In Karl Fulves Self-Working Coin Magic, his second example is called the "Money Changer".

You can see it here:,M1

I'm having a problem with figure 4 and am not understanding how to "silently pivot the dime onto the half dollar with the opposite hand". I always make noise and am not understanding how it is telling me to pivot.

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The way I've always seen this done is you basically plant your thumb on the face of the dime and put a little more pressure on the part of the dime that's above the half, and less onthe part that's below it. This causes the dime to "pivot"-- or perhaps "hinge" would be a better word--on the edge of the half at the point of contact. The dime is then slid onto the face of the half, and the half displayed.

Noise is another problem. Two things to try:

1. Noise is vibration. Dampen the vibration, and you'll stop the noise. Keep your thumb solidly on the dime, contacting its face as much as possible with the pad of your thumb. Keep the coins in constant contact. Press, but not too hard.

2. Turn the dime into two halves. The fact that you are revealing two halves, and taking one into each hand to display, explains the noise they might have heard earlier.
