Josh was gracious to share his latest creation with some of his previous supporters.
UNO - A nice variation of his IBT (Impromptu Book Test). This time, only ONE book is used. Effect You ask a participant to select any book she likes. Taking the book from her, you proceed to flip through the book and have her call stop at any moment. She remembers the first word on the page she has stopped at then closes the book and sets it aside. You ask her to think of the first word that comes to mind when she thinks of her chosen word. As she concentrates on this word you write something down on a piece of paper. Now you ask her to think of her original word and once again you write something down on the same piece of paper. You conclude by turning your paper over and showing her and the audience you have successfully written down both words she has thought of! It's a clever combination of a book test and direct mind reading. Any thoughts from those who received this? Bosco |

This could be a nice quickie.[IMHO] I will know for sure after trying it.
I really like the simplicity. Also the the finger placement idea is very cool.I just tried it in the mirror[looks convincing]. This could be a great little thing to do when you are in an environment with books and magazines[like a doctor's office],and someone makes a request for you to do something. Nice thinking Josh! And,Thank-you. Best. Rich |

Sounds like an interesting idea and an original use of an age-old principle.
Looks to be another nice piece of work from Josh. Should be interesting to see what others have to say about it.

Umm, yes it is ok. But it is a little bit of a strange concept. There is actually no need to reveal two words, as the reveal on one word is strong enough anyway.
It would be much better to ask them to think of a word that springs to mind relating to that word and then have it written and folded in their hands before they say anything. Even then it seems to be a bit of an overkill. Just my thoughts. |

Does it play just as written?
Just want to know because write ups seems to be more hype then how the effect REALLY are played out. Remmeber B2TF. The hype (write up) did not match the real method. Just my 2 cents. Ray |

Ray, the write-up does match the method in B2TF. I'm not sure why you keep saying this on the forum. I will be more than happy to refund your $20 if this bothers you so much. If I made the write up any different and more specific then everyone would figure out the method. Not a good idea
You can use Malchat's routine in the script to accomplish the write-up as well as Greg's and many, many different routines that we mentalists all know of. Best, JZ |

It does play out exactly as written. Can't fault that.

Yes it plays out just like the description reads. Apart from the actual presentation patter, that's what the spectators see.

I flicked through it. But to be honest I thin the original with 2 books is far better.
I have used it numerous times and it floors them everytime. In borders or a bar with books as part of the decor. I loved the IBT. I don't have BTF but the idea doesn't appeal to me. I think there is a lot of hype around. I recently bought a book that has been hyped and praised to heaven on here. I thought it was complete crap couldn't believe what I was reading in the reviews. But I will say I thought IBT was a really good effect. |

How does this compare to the IBT?

Chichi:I make it a point to initially, and 'discretely' let the people who work in offices or other workplaces[doctor, dentist, printer, auto sevice station etc.]know what I do for a living.
Over the years it has paid off with many private gigs. Many times someone asks me to to do something. If others are watching,I usually wind up handing out a few biz cards. Self promotion never hurts...and it's fun. Rich |

I just got this, very nice impromptu effect. I do not think the revelation of two words is overkill, they choose one word and think of another associated with it. I like this very much!
Thank Josh! Mike |
