That has to be a camera cut.

If it is NOT a camera edit, then this is one of the best tricks I've ever seen.

That's what I assumed. Apparently one of my friends that works at Diamonds Magic had a person inquire about this product. He sent my friend the video, who immediately forwarded to me. We both guessed camera trick. Thanks for the supporting opinions!

That was a camera edit but it could be done. even without the mug.
If you know what to use, its very simple. |

Look at the grid on his mat.
The position of the bill on the cross hairs before, then after. :)

Camera edit.... look at the pattern of the checkered towel slightly move right when the cup hits the table, and the pattern on the table also moves as well (i can be wrong, but I think I'm right) that would be a awesome effect thought, if it wasn't camera edited....
Customized greatly...

You gotta be quick. LOL
Seriously though, way to be observant. You pay attention to detail. Well done.

I use to mess around with my parents camera (had a remote) back in jr. high and do similar things... it was fun to watch/do, but I never showed anyone the videos because they would just ask me to do it in person... and that will be a problem....lol

Even though this was a "camera trick," the burning is real and it reminded me of Sam Berland's Devil Dollar that fooled so many magicians decades ago with the burning/vanish of the bill? Why? Because he REALLY did burn the bill! It's amazing how so many magicians (and laymen,) think nobody would really burn a real bill, but, hey, it's only a dollar...even back in the 50's in Berland's time, it was a small enough amount to spend for a killer effect.

I think it's black art.
The ashes blend in with the black mat, and while the mug is out of view, he inserts a $100 bill. |

Its possible to do this by switching the mug as it goes out of shot...the second mug has a circle of the mat material on the bottom with the 100 inside the mug...the circle crushes the 1 dollar attaches to the existing mat by magnets or just weight and then reveals the 100..the mug slamming leaves a circular mark on the mat anyway...so it could be made to work using this methodology perhaps.
This I believe is an edit though on the web video...but some food for thought..good to get something out of a video con.
