Poor guy. Divorce is a hard thing to go through. I watched my parents and it devastated our family as well as them. I hope things turn out ok for him, he's one of my favorite magicians.

So where did this son come from? Adoption or what???

Divorce can still be hard, even years after it's over. Could you imagine those two running into one another at a magic convention? I can only imagine how awkward it would be. And I think "newly acquired" does mean adopted, but you would have to ask Payne.

So where did this son come from and who is he? Is he into magic, and why doesn't Lance ever talk of him? Is he Nathan Burton???

I don't see why Lance should have to discuss his private life if he doesn't want to. And it's perfectly all right for his son not to be in magic if he doesn't want to be, magic is not for everyone. Having a famous parent can be tough. Everyone expecting you to have the same level of talent in the same field as your mom or dad...I can understand why Lance would not want to put any pressure on him. Or even discuss him if that was what his kid would have to deal with.

I agree Kathryn. We're here to discuss magic, not people's private lives.

This has nothing to do with the original question about Lance's personal life. I do know more about that then necessary and prefer not to disclose anything, because it's not important.
I happen to come across his first network show on video in my collection. I forgot I had it. I think I am one of maybe 4 who has it and seen it. OK, that is it, nothing else.

You can actually pick up his first two specials on DVD which also includes the Hidden Secrets of Magic Special at Amazon.com. It is fairly cheap, I think $15.
I don't think it is proper to discuss Lance's marriage to Melinda in the public forum. Suffice it to say, yes they were married for a year I believe. It was an amicable split of which he joked with Mike Caveney in an old Magic magazine when he signed his $100 million contract with the Monte Carlo that giving half to Melinda would be the right thing to do. On the other hand, Lance has been very open on discussing his son. I have seen a couple of articles in the Las Vegas newspaper which I get daily and it has been mentioned in Magic magazine, that he has started to learn some close-up magic. Lance found out after 18 years he had a son. Turns out a fellow magician in Louisville called him and said his grandaughter was dating a nice young man and when he found out her grandfather was a magician, the boy asked him if he knew Lance Burton. When he confirmed he did, the boy said Lance was his father. Lance is very proud of his son, and discusses him from time to time in interviews. |

Well then how do you have the movie
And who ever said he and Melinda weren't freinds any more? My parents have been divorced since I was 3, I'm 16 now and they always go out for dinner |

Unless your Lances son you can't say that it's the same for Lance and Melinda.
I think it's terrible that anyone gets divorced...but it isn't for us to discuss. Chris |
