We have all seen Mr.Blaine eat like a 100$ worth of quarters, but l wonder if anyone of you fine magicians out there can give me a hint on the performance: The clue is that l've got the gimmicked coin as a norwegian 5kr, and the problem here is that the part you bite off is just as big as the part still showing, so you have nothing left to hold at when you supposedly blow the coin back together...?
Any suggestions please??

Hi Eirik, I believe the coin used by Mr Blaine and now sold in the UK as the bitten coin effect (but uses a UK 50 pence piece) uses a special coin that is not the same as a folding coin!

The join is slightly higher up, so that there is ample room to hold the coin as you bite the piece off!

I am not sure how you would get round this in your own currency but you may have to talk with your dealer or a specialist coin magic dealer like Todd Lassen

Check out his web site here:

Todd will make coin effects to order. I hope this helps. Smile

Thank you for the tip Jack,
l always thought the two effects were performed with the same folding coin. l`ll check out the website and see if it`s possible for them to make a norwegian coin for the bitten coin routine..
Thanx again.

Hi Eirik,

I am glad I could be of help, its always nice to give useful advice to fellow magicians as you never know when you will need their advice yourself!

Just a question that is unrelated! Where in Norway are you? I have visited Norway a lot when I served in the Royal Marines!

Regards

Hello Jack, l live in the capital of norway, but i`v been all over this beautiful country, exploring, klimbing ,diving and so on... So it`s so nice to hear other peoples opinion about their visit here, cause not alot of guests here have an opinion about this country, so l`m very interested in your own opinion?
And l have to say, magic is much smaller compared to other bigger countries....(?)

Hi Eirik,
I had a similar problem so I took a large coin,( a 2p ) and ground and filed out a circle.
I borrow a 2p, look at the date ` hey 1998 that's a good year.` - switch the coin , bite a piece out- pull a face, ` that tastes awful ` ` where have you been keeping it`- and throw the coin on the table.
Wait a short time and throw the coin in my close-up case. I then give the coins owner two 1p coins.
Sometimes I restore the coin. By picking it up , switching it, taking it to my mouth, wiping it, and handing it back. I think this weakens it though.
You should see the faces when the bitten coin bounces across the table.
This can`t be original, but I`v never heard of anyone else using a real coin.
