If you can't work this into a routine, you're just not trying:

Heh, cute.
Hmn.. how would explain away the odd base, with an AC cord connected to it at that ? Or just hide the cord ? Can you remove the bulb from the base?(I doubt that) I kind of prefer the ol' battery operated bulb I think..
Just hanging out with the rest of my fellow dregs.

Myst, I think the base fixture is a separate item used for the display. I think the thing is just the bulb with an extra and phony screw-in base.

I was thinking of a rig where the base was inset into a table, so it looked like the bulb was just sitting on a black cloth.
Though it can't move around, its advantage is that it is as bright as a real light bulb, since it is one. I've never seen a battery-operated one that comes even close. And if you had a volunteer on stage, they could even put their hand over it to see that it's becoming hot. If you don't want to drop $38 on one light bulb, you could do something similar by taking a round bulb and using a heat-resistant epoxy to glue a broken-off base to the working bulb. Of course, then it would be round instead of lightbulb-shaped, but you could still 'sell it', right?

Sure! There are round bulbs used around mirrors and such.
