The drinking game (do as do)
The twisting arms
The 'no' game

All these play well on stage for audiences as entertainment.

Any you'd care to add?

'Drinking the shot under the hat' might make for a bit of comedy and the bit should be easily visible for a crowd. So would 'Sticking your head through a playing card' (I always use a pre-cut card to save time).

I have done all of the above on stage except for the "no" game.
Also I can drink two beers faster than you can drink four shots.

For comedys sake, I have also done an intentional loser or two. This is one I once used as a closer for a betcha act.
Hand the mark a broom. Take a small bucket of water, climb up on a chair and press it to the celing. Tell the mark that the bet is that they can's hold the bucket of water to the celing using the broom for 30 seconds.
Have the audience count down with you. The mark succeeds.
Place the $ you promised they'd win on a table just out of their reach. Have the crowd applaud for the Mark's successful winning of the last bet.
Bow and leave the stage, the mark still holding the bucket against the celing with the broomhandle.
See how long they last...

I usually go help them out after another minute, or one of their friends does.
But it is fun while it lasts!

I used to do a smaller scale version of that by getting someone to place their index fingers on a table near the edge (so their knuckles of the other fingers touch the edge.

I then bet they can't balance a beer on the back of their fingers for 2 minutes. they win but are stuck with the beer!

Thanks a lot. I just lost a dollar to my wife with that. She got out of it within seconds. She leaned over, grabbed the lip of the glass with her mouth, pulled a finger free and took my bill. Smile

the point is:

they CAN balance it there for 2 minutes. They therefore WIN and get the money! the other point is that they are left in a situation where they need to get out of it to get the money they won!

So you should have EXPECTED to loose your money.

And lets be honest ..... a dollar to your wife ..... she can do the washing up and house work for a month and not want any more money from you .... oh unless she is a modern woman..... then she may well need another few hundred dollars for shoes and shopping?

My point was that she was not stuck with a beer (wine glass in my case) balancing on the backs of her knuckles. If the "gotcha" is that they can't retrieve the money after they won, then it's wrong. They can and she did!

No the point is they WIN the money by balancing the beer on their fingers for 2 minutes.....

Just as a bit of by play they have to try and remove the glass from their fingers to get their money...

Hell if you didn’t want them to get the money you would nail the glass to their hand and the table as well. Or am, I pushing it too far?

what did you do, just GIVE her the dollar? you're supposed to hold it just out of their beer-glass-laden reach, while uttering gentle words of encouragement: "OK you win here's yer dollar! here's yer dollar right here, c'mon, doncha want it? I gottit right here, whyncha take it? (etc etc)"

You might not wish to use this presentational approach with the missuz, however ....

Of course not. It was just out of reach. That's when she busted the betcha, used her mouth to balance the rim of the glass and took the money. That's the funny part, there was no by play. She had the money...and the drink, before I even realized that *I* was the one that was "had."

You're right about the presentational approach. It could work, but only once.

I've seen this done in the pub before: hands flat on the table, ABSOLUTELY full pint of lager on the back of each hand, and the prize is the beer.

a. You can't wiggle one hand out
b. A pint of lager weighs a LOT more than a glass of wine and the fullness makes it very hard to lift with the teeth.
c. If you spill the beer, you lose the prize

It is a good game: beer handcuffs. A nice variation is to sit them between two tables with a hand on each, so that they are in the way of people trying to get between the tables.

I'm sure I heard of this one before, but I just can't remember the solution.
Is it published ? If so, where ?
