Do you know about the new book by David Avadon, "Cutting up Touches," which profiles Ricki and many other famous pickpockets? It was just released this week.

Yes I do, you will see it advertised on the website under 'products'. David was kind enough to let me use some of his essay on Ricki for the website. Also on the site is a link to Ricki's book which is sold by Norm Nielson and Ricki's signature Drink Trick.

Hi Paul,
I knew Ricky but don't have any stories.Do you have contact info on Looy Siminoff in Las Vegas? I know Looy and Ricky went to lunch a lot together.Peter Pitt hung out with them as well. You can email me for Looy's phone number.Looy's a really great guy and I'm sure he has stories he would be more than happy to share with you about Ricky. I went to Colon Mi.last summer to Abbotts get-together and stoped by the cemetery.Lots of famous magicians there as well as Ricky Dunn.( didn't know that before) You can get my email from my profile. Later,Don |

Great job with the website. I bought the pickpocket book and it's the best I've ever read. It was also a treat to get the DVD and see Ricki perform. I LOVE the drink trick and ended up buying one from Hocus-Pocus. It's the funniest thing I've ever seen!!

I have one:
Ricki used "Ricki Dunn is a Thief" in his ads. So one day a pal of his runs an ad with a photo of an unknown person in the same pose as Ricki with "Lodar is a Thief" as the headline. Of course Ricki goes ballistic not knowing how this Lodar is. Some time later, when I was booking acts for the IBM Conventions, Ricki called me to see if I would book him. I told his, "Ricki... why didn't you call yesterday. I just booked a pickpocket act... LODAR." (Ricki went ballistic). Finally, a couple of days later I called and told him Lodar cancelled and I booked Ricki. I assume that Ricki EVENTUALLY found out the gag was perpartrated by his dear friend, Johnny Thompson.

I found my letter that Uncle Ricki wrote.
Its so funny. So I read it to my mom and we were laughing. She told me a funny story about him and my dad. going along with pete on him being ballistic, Mom said he sure had a temper. wait...what magician doesn't. I might type that up and post it in my journal.

I remember Ricki very well. He used to play Magic Island in Houston, and we would hang together when he wasn't at the club. He was a heck of an entertainer and a real piece of work. If you wanted to see him really go ballistic, all you needed to do was to say that you thought Don Alan was the greatest magician in the world.
