Hi all, I just received a new large model tsble case from a Uk Ebay seller.
I have never had anything like this before and would like to hear some others views on a few things. The first thing I noticed was the wooly covering had very uneven wear patterns on it, some smooth and like new, other parts like the top part when folded out had two very obvious wear marks where a performer would naturally rest his hands or move the tsble. In some parts the wooly material has clumped into little balls that are high above( raised) than the rest of it, just like when a piece of clothing gets worn out it starts to bull up into little clumps. The snap clasp on one side does not function at all. The side-wing on the performers RH side has been bent sideways too far and the join is clearly starting to fail and will not last long. The shelf has a couple of marks (nicks) on it just where it would get nicked when throwing in props during a show and I can see white wood showing up thought the black paint. Lastly, the shelf itself has shiny paint in the inner parts of it while the easily accessed semi circular area that would get most wear is dull and has no shine. I am no expert but I have a gut feeling this is a well used table being sold as a new one in the hope I do not know the difference, well I do. I have read some quality control issues regarding Joes tables and still went ahead and bought the table as everyone seems generally happy with them. I mailed the UK seller who tells me that these are brought in from the USA, opened and checked, then repackaged and sent out. This table passed all their quality control checks which is a bit of a worry. Do these tables come in their own cardboard box? This one arrived in a baby car seat box which is again a bit bizzare to say the least. If anyone has any helpful, constructive input I would love to hear it. I do not want anyone saying anything negative about Joe personally, I hear he is a straight up guy and I have no reason to doubt that. Hi all, ust to say I have come to a mutually acceptable agreement with the seller, there was a mix up and its all fine now. I recon it wil be a very useful table once I sort it out. Alan,
I'm sure you'll love this table. I've had mine for over 15 years now, and it's still going strong.

I have owned mine for 6 years, I bought it new. I am very satisified with the quality of the table. I think you will find it very useful. Sounds like the one you got was used hard.

I have a Lefler Pro Table, and it is wearing extremely well. Yours does not sound like it is in new condition.

Alan, FYI, Simply put you have been HAD. In other words you have been RIPPED OFF. In my opinion you received a JUNK Table. Sorry for your loss hope you did not pay too much.

I have a small and large Lefler table. It is the best money I've ever spent on a magic prop. My shows are organized and I'm ready to go in less than a minute. Full show self contained. What more could you ask for?

I wish I'd bought one of these a loooooong time ago, but the $350+/- price tag scared me off. How's that old saying go? 'Penny wise, pound foolish'? That's me. My set-up and tear-down times have literally been cut in half since I started using the Prosuitcase table, not to mention the fact I'm much better organized. Hats off to Joe Lefler!

I love mine. The only thing I added was one of those stick on click lights so that I can easily see the interior of the table during a show (the interior is black on black and depending on the performance lighting, it's sometimes hard to see inside). Other than that, it has worn very well. Sorry to hear yours is a dud Alan.

By the description you just gave there is no way that that's a new one.
And even if it was, you'd have the right to return it. Broken clasps, worn fabric... Hope you sort it out. |

I purchased one from a magic shop, it was in perfect condition. Not long after that I met Joe at a magic convention.
He is a great guy and builds quality stuff. When I told him I purchased my table through a dealer and not direct he assured me if anything went wrong with the table he would stand behind it. I think you received a used one and someone made off with your new one. Call them they owe you a replacement.

I can now find exactly what I'm looking for without fail. The one complaint I have about the table is that, IMHO, the grey cloth covering is very unattractive. I do have a sign that completely covers the front but the sides/top remained that yucky grey colour. I'm wondering what folks have done to make this table just a little more visually appealing. |

I agree with you Smartini on the look - I would have bought one of these based on the design, but to me it just looks like a big speaker or a box covered with carpet. My taste runs more toward something like the Malloy or Tabman tables, not that I can afford them.

That "icky gray cover" wears great and protects the table, and it's Velcro compatible, so it can easily be covered with anything you want. I bought one in '96, and I still use it all the time--I love it!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments on my Pro-Suitcase Table.
Here is some news about the future of my table. First I have stopped selling them thru the Magic distributors. I love these guys but my cost of material has gone up so drastically that I can't keep the price under $400.00 and still sell to wholesalers. Having said that, Murphy's Magic had several suitcase tables that were returned that were supposedly damaged and replaced, by Murphys, from their customers. As always we replaced them. When the damaged tables arrived, we made a very disturbing discovery. Several of the tables that were returned were not ours. They were very poorly assembled without glue, they were nailed together, not stapled and the non-woven poly olefin covering was glued down with inferior glue and not seamed right or stapled down at all. These were returned in boxes I have never used and had very inferior casters and lathes on them. These are not the kind of quality tables I have been making for years. I am telling you this, as I will now pick very carefully the dealers I will sell the tables to. You will find a list of those dealers on our website. If they don't appear on our site, it may not be one of our tables. Our site is http://www.wearefun.com/catalog/product_......0f624022 If this link doesn’t work just go to our site and look in the magic catalog at http://www.WeAreFun.com Of course you can buy one directly from us and there won't be any question as to its origin and quality. I hope this clears up any questions about our Pro-Suitcase Table. Have a HOLIDAY! Joe Lefler |

Very sorry to hear you are further restricting availability of your excellent tables, but quality control is important too. I guess I'll contact one of your listed magic dealers when I want another. The one I have works wonders.

Just saw my second Lefler Table at Perfect Occasions Costume and Magic and it is a quality piece of work. B to the T has the first one I've seen. Being a ventriloquist and a magician I can see how this table could really work out well for me. Joe does a great job!

I have a questions...
What are the differences between the Lefler Table and McKinney Table? http://www.toddmckinneyproducts.com/ |

The price!
I like the mckinney table concept but there are just too many other models out there that are just as good and not that expensive. Just my thoughts. Patrick |

There are many more differences than the price. It's a completly different design made to last and perform. It has an open top well, and two table tops to perform from. The hardware is all comercial grade ATA recessed hardware. The casters area special order caster that holds up much better than a stock caster. The carpet is an exhibition ribbed carpeting which is mouch tougher than speaker carpeting. You basically get two tables in one that will last you made by a builder who backs his work. You can see them here; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMxefUbXS_Y&feature=g-upl
