Hi all,
I just thought since I often have shared the good word on Doug Higley on Spooky and Penny most of the time... it behooves me to also mention it here - since his art peices are ideal for all forms of magic. (I actually find it hard sometimes to really make a distinction between mentalism, magic, bizarre magick and storytelling magic since there are a lot of overlaps... and these items I am about to mention will show you why....) Here is a link - take a peek and come back... http://GrindShow.com Many of these items may seem on the "Dark Side" - however, most stories delve into a nice danger-climax situation... and each of these items made me go wild with story ideas. You will find some of the big guns in mentalism and bizarre magick submitted tributes for these items under the organizing force of Jim Magus to create a tome full of routines - almost all presented in interactive storytelling format. Now, with Pirate's of the Car. 3 coming soon - think about it. Monkey's Paw - c'mon - classic story... custom made orders... (heck, I have had SF and comic creatures Doug can make such a difference in the atmosphere of an act (even my Tintin tribute of all things))... this guy is good. No, I am not his partner nor do I get a cut of the profits. However, Doug is such a nice guy he clearly does the creations a lot out of love that I'd say these things are underpriced and he often just give freebies away to people (see Spooky threads of recent posting for example). I felt I just wanted to sing him some praises outside the normal spectrum because his work doesn't deserve to be pigeon-holed... some of the things in Magus's book are quite light (as from the amazing Tony Eye's 'Curious Georgio'...).... Next - is Roth's OUTLAW EFFECTS. Another producer of amazing items that cuts across the boundaries of defined "mentalism" "Magic" "bizarre" "Storytelling" - I've often sung priases on Spooky and Penny for the sheer innovative brilliance the HOMICIDE series, the SCORPION, and soon the RELIC (Pirates of the C again!?!?)... allow a performer to go wild. In fact, you can often COMBINE OUTLAW and HIGLEY items for a truly powerful punch. I often think OUTLAW should win some sort of reward - but there is none it qualifies for - so I will do my part to spread the word. No, I get no profits from him either. http://www.outlaw-effects.com There are many great creators of magic and mentalism on the Café - for sure - I just wanted to shine a light on two creators that have a lot to offer Storytellers as well. I just respect great service, communication and quality - and innovation and creativity. Why today do I finally post it here? Because it is Saint Saint Symeon the Barefoot of Philotheou Monastery on Mount Athos Day

Thanks Doc for the kind words. For the Pirate theme though, I have much better than the Monkey's Paw...in fact the Pirate Toes is ideal for any show almost any age group and a lot more fun.
And for tie ins with Outlaw, interesting you mention that as there can be no better marraige than Roth's "White Chapel Pawn" book and my new Dark Museum 'The Ripper Evidence' The Dark Museum does have a Bizarrist reputation but they ARE for any kind of Mystery Performer as they were originally designed to be...easilly accessable Mentalism/Magic that can fit in any tight shoe. Thanks again Doc.
