Hi everyone I don't know if thgis is the right place to post but here it is
I got a couple of questions are there any tricks out there that involve fairies? also what trick or routine got you the best reaction? I mean anything exept poking a fork in your eye or using razor blades etc.. anything that seem super natural or... pure magic lol the thing is that some people don't beleive in magic ... lets prove them wrong lol |

I made a Fairy for one of the more private Café members a couple of years ago and he had a great routine planned for it. I thought it was going to be used as a Zibit in a Grind Show but he told me about the routine possibilities. Unfortunately I can't reveal it without permission. So imagination will work if you think hard enough.
The first Fairy prop I saw was Mark Frierson's cool fossilized fairy. Maybe on the internet somewhere. Looks like a Fossil still in matrix. Mine was more a ugly little dead 'thing' with tiny wings. Recently Dan at Lebanon Circle did a real neat fairy and got the hoax out there with some smart marketing. I'll try and find a photo of my Fairy...got it somewhere and will post it if I can locate the file. Good luck. Faries are cool.

You know in thinking this over and looking for the picture...I think it was supposed to be a Homunculus and came out a Fairy. I didn't want to make a Fairy as the customer wanted a kind of Homunculus, (I couldn't spell it then and probably still can't... )...anyway the 'thing' wasn't fearsome enough to be a Homunculus so I made another one for the customer (don't have a photo of that one...it went to Europe if I recall...the photo is of the Fairy critter...at least that's what I called it to myself. Keeping the record straight is a pain in the but.

You could do a card sword and Tinker Belle gets in the way and ends up skewered on the end of your sword. Better yet, play a recording of buzzing insects from a hidden source and start swatting at the invisible insects with a large fly swatter. All of a sudden, wham! You got a fairy. Oooooh! Her little D'Lite is flickering out. Clap your hands, quick! Darn! Squashed another one!

I use an unusual Prayer Bottle as a fairy trap. Get the kids standing around chanting the spell to suck a fairy into the bottle. If she grabs the rope, she's in there. If not, then she's gotten out while we weren't looking and needs to be recaptured again. (Yes...I do basic bizarre for children in walkaround at ren-faires).
I also do a version of Mandragora (Tony Shiels -13) where the piece of root I place in the jar is trying to go back to the dryad tree it came from. Red Devil by Shiels (Something Strange) can be used to show another fairy trapped in a bottle, and proves it's escape when it leaves it's imprint on a piece of paper. The Mark Of The Devil by Liam Montier (found on bizarremagick.com) is another one that is easily adaptable to fairy work. You make a deal with the fairies, then they confirm the deal. Also on Bizarremagick.com is Under the Protection of the Fairies By Peter Marucci. A good card routine for use with fairies. Really anything that contains elemental elements can be eadapted to Fairy presentation. There are types of fairy for every element. Catch a fairy out of the air- It's a fire fairy and it escapes your grasp in a gout of flames. Catch a water fairy and it either escapes through your fingers in a trickle of water or a sudden downpour occurs (Loughran's Rainmaker). An earth fairy is captured and shows itself as a pile of fine sand poured out of the hand, or helps you find out what card a volunteer picked by placing signs inside a stone (Baba Gede's book Vu Du Ma Gick) An air fairy shows it's presence by lifting up a feather from your hand and floating it about. Goodness...The possabilities are endless. Haunted Hanks, Mayne's ghost vision, tons of PK effects, anything that causes a vanish (Fairies are notorious thieves), change a coin or bill into rocks and leaves (Fairy money is just rocks and leaves with a glamour cast on them, they revert when the fairy leaves), those nut and bolt things that unscrew themselves when shut in a box... Heck...Use my Scent of Darkness effect, and the fairy lets out a silent but deadly fart into the nose of the volunteer it doesn't like. You just need to think outside of the box a bit, then the routining writes itself. Watch the Dark Crystal, Labrynth, Legend, Fairies, Pan's Labrynth. Read any book by Brian Froud- An absolute treasure trove of Fairy Lore. Do a search for the Unseelie Court or the Sidhe on the internet. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with. Gwyd aka Gwydion Sidhe Gwydion- Welsh- God of Magic, Illusionist/Alchemist/Trickster, The Wolf Sidhe- 1. a mound or hill in which fairies or Elves live. 2. a fairy, elf, goblin, Drow etc... 3. sÃdhe, the race of fairy folk. So...I am the God of Fairy Illusions and Magic. I'm not a fairy though. Don't go there. |

I saw a new product advertised on this very forum called "Butterfly Matrix" that might fit the bill for you, with the right presentation...
Good luck with this. Given the current interest in Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings you might work this area well...
