The trick is unique. I am sure that the video didn't do it justice. The thing that bothered me the most was the poor timing of the bulb going off. It magically appears in the bag but the bulb behind the screen still had some glow left. It would be much better if the light was completely out before it mysteriously appeared in the bag.
Always nice to see something new...slow start but great ending. |

Craig - thanks for the info! Wish I could have seen it live. Actually, the whole evening sounds pretty fabulous. And it was great to hear your take on the clear screen - which seems to be the stumbling block. Sounds like in performance, it wasn't.

Hmmm.
I would think that the socket would be to hot to touch even with his bare hands... and I'd be afraid that the paper bag would catch on fire. nice concept...needs more work.

The bulb socket is a standard ceramic fixture--doesn't get hot. The effect has apparently fooled you since it is impossible for the bag to catch fire.

I think anything with Jim's name on it is always gold when you see it live.

He was not being sarcastic. He is the builder, and merely explaining that there was no danger involved.

OK...the video is not great quality, but what an amazing routine. Loved it...and was fooled.

I imagine this effect would look great in person, but the presentation as it came across on video was pretty ordinary. For one thing the timing of the bulb to bag was off the first couple of times. The bag was brought down to indicate the bulb had magically appeared in it and yet the lit bulb did not go off/vanish till a second or two later.

You stated that you're not a magician and your comments about Mr. Steinmeyer's lightbulb illusion haven't been (pardon the expression) enlightening. Are you here to promote your "you will remember my name" / "my parents are legends and I'm a genius" music connections?
Like Bonnie Raitt said, "I miss Little Feat more than I miss being 8 years old." Thanks for the concerts + recordings, Lowell, Richie, and Paul!

Yeap, you got it.
You don't have a problem with that, do you???? I'm only here to promote my music in a place that is for magic only. Aunt Frances would be proud of me. As she say's, "You don't have to be craazy." I hope I see jim tomorrow night, now that i think about it.
