My used "Gloves to Dove" Chalet tray is quite loud when it slaps over.
Is that normal? Should strips of foam be added to other side to soften the noise?

The door does make a loud pop. This is one reason that supports the use of a flash pot with it. Then the pop is the explosion.

Hmm, good point Bob.
Suggestions on how best to rig the pot?

When I practiced with mine I thought it was very loud as well. I used it in a show a few weeks ago. It was in a school auditorium and with my music playing I don't think the audience really noticed it. Though I would also like to know how to set up a flash pot for it as well................

Btw, which direction have folks placed the tray in?
With the dove load in the back, or in front closer to audience?

Bryan,
Two of my flash pots have foot switches. That solves the "timing" problem for me. See if Ricker here on The Café will make you one. Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

Karol, I put the dove load closer to the audience, but that's just the way I like to do it. Just in case a piece of your glove(s) gets caught outside the trap. Plus I think the dove appearing in front of your gloves makes it look a lot cleaner.
Bob, thanks. I will try to contact him. Take care, Bryan |

Is there a plan to make up a balloon to dove tray.

Take a close up pad and cut a strip of it that is the same width as the edge of where the flap lands on. Glue it to it and it will drop the noise level way down.

Does anyone know of a dove tray which could be used to "pop out" a Rocky Raccoon?

Shouldn't all dove trays fit rocky?? I think its possible. Mine is able to.. I just had to try it. hahaha! Anyways, its a spring puppet and I think compressing it is no issue.
