What is the name of the 24" X 36" silk trick where the performer ties a knot in the silk, slides off the knot, lastly the silk has a hole in it? Where can it be purchased?

Are you referring to "Knots Off Silk"?
If so, a Google search will turn up a lot of dealers, probably including your favorite.

Just received Steven's Magic catalog today in the mail. They are selling a nice set of this effect.

Duane Laflin's version is called 'Knots off Silk' and can be found on this double DVD...
http://www.worldmagicshop.co.uk/sensatio......895.html In his version he ties a knot and slides it off three times. The rest of this Double DVD has lots of good stuff on it - and its dirt cheap, buy it! G. |

Also, Bob Sanders sells a very nice set. In his version, the knots are heavy enough that they slide off by themselves and you can hear them hit the floor - it's more theatrical than an "in-the-hand" version.

The original idea was Pavel's, though many have made it up.

Tuesday and this past weekend I spent with Pavel. I look forward to his return in August 2008. He is well known for his good works with a variety of f**se knots in rope, silk, etc. In my 46 years in magic, I have never known him to market this particular trick. He reiterated on his lecture tour this time that he makes no claim to inventing anything except the presentation or application of an existing methodology. But the man is a genius at doing that. He is indeed a man who hides his light under a bushel.

Bob,
Sorry I missed your lecture in Murfreesboro, Tn. I was out of town on business in Tampa. I know I missed a good one but I got a friend to pick up some 36" silks from you. Hopfully, we can hook up pretty soon. David W. |

David,
Thank you. I wish you had been there. You would understand when I say that I gave them my five hour lecture in just three hours! LOL It was a great crew and they had Good FOOD! If I do Memphis soon you'll get another chance. I promise it will be shorter. I did have the 24" and the 36" Knots-Off Silk there. And I explained how to go from Knots-Off to the Sucker Silk to Egg using the same (?) 36" silk. The pro version is not made with the cheap foam ponytail holders. The 3 "knots" that come with the pro version are made to give much better sliding control (so you can stay with your music); due to the weight and flexibility, they actually untie the silk knot they replace; and make a noise when they hit the stage floor. They are also available in twelve colors. Bob |

Bob... Glad to hear that you got to spend so much time with Pavel. The man is extremely creative. Makes me feel so inadequate.
I am jealous as I only got to spend a few minutes before and after the lecture he presented here in Atlanta. Thanks for your great lecture as well Lynn Fox |

Hello Lynn,
Thank you! I just watch Pavel work (while my mouth can't close). He is an artist! Please send me a mailing address for you. I have your red silk from the Tennessee lecture and another you can use to practice knot tying. I need to return them to you. We are all looking forward to SEAM 2008 in Atlanta.
