Any advice on creating a good fire eating torch?

I've been making my own even since I started. Just make sure it's 100% cotton. I accidentally made mine with part polyester. . . NOT a good idea! I use heavy-gauge, Hibachi skewers cut off to my length. Wrap with 100% cotton. Then fasten with thin wire. That's it! I might show exactly how on a video in the future.

I've always used wicking from juggling torches. You can buying it separately from Dube. I cut a small piece and then wrap it around the of the handle. To finish it off I unravel some more wicking and use the thread to tie it securely on and shape it.
I got the handles from some cheap barbeque tools. I just snapped the ends off. There are probably other methods out there beside mine and Jeffs. Maybe Jeff knows where Penn Jillette got his. His seem to be professionally built, but that may just be how it appears on video.

I found the wicking from juggling clubs to be too stiff. I like a softer torch so I can squeeze the fuel out easier if I wanted to for effect.
Don't know about Penn's.
