Could anyone give me some ideas for tricks which I could do with the three card monte. It is really the only thing I do right now. I bought a booklet with directions but I would like to do more before I go into the monte.

Hi there! A couple of quick pointers...
1) You may want to head over to the "New to magic?" forum here on the Café. Lots of great advice in there for all types of magic if you are just starting out. 2) I would suggest you pick up one of the books many people mention that is great for beginners, Mark Wilson's magic book. If you are interested in card stuff Royal Road is also good (or card college for more money) and for coins Bobo's Modern Coin Magic is where it's at. Hope that helps some. |

Great advice Robert.
One of the best books to have in your "library" is "Mark Wilson's Complete Course In Magic." Don't waste your time with his "Cyclopedia of Magic" book. It is similar, but much smaller and has about half the information. As mentioned for cards, "Royal Road to Card Magic" is a classic. Many of the card magicians out there cut their teeth on this book. Good luck and enjoy the magic! Mark. |

Or you might want to start off with Bob Longe's his card books, the books are not so expensive and it would be a good start learning card magic as well.

Greg Wilson's Double Take DVD is where it all started for me!

Paul Clive: "Card tricks without skill" is a favorite book of mine. It maybe out of print now though. Good luck with building a short show.
