For those of you that do Osterlind's routine, would you recommend buying the booklet and kit at $60, or buying the DVD volume that explains it for $35 and making your own (in which case you also get all the other material on the DVD as well)?
Also, while I assume it is not necessary to use the perforated slips that Richard sells for this effect, are they important or helpful enough to compel one to spend the money to purchase them? Thanks for any feedback. |

If you're on a budget, I'd say get the DVD and a pack of the slips from Richard. The DVD shows you how to make up the "special something" you need, not to mention there are many other great effects on there as well.

Resurrected from the passssttt....
Just to say, I used the Final Answer methodology and gimmicks slightly modified for adding in a Q & A major component to my seance I ran today for 200 people... it slayed them... as I posted on Spooky - when you present a Q & A using a spirit frame for what is occurring versus "mentalism" - very different things occur - including amongst the people (who were PhDs, MDs, nurses, scientists, etc.) being afraid to write down questions and admitted superstitions, beliefs in the supernatural etc.... and this is at a top academic centre... 'twas fascinating... and because of the set-up.... using Richard's super-simple gimmicks was a breeze... no one was paying any attention to any of the props or even the questions - they were too busy seeing me use a spirit telegraph to get the spirits to answer the questions.... I own a ton of Q & A materials (just waiting for John Rigg's Q & A my way updated to get my collection exhaustive (have his earlier version) - but the Osterlind solution I keep coming back to as a super easy clever solution to doing Q & A.... add in the subt. from Questa and Dynamite Mentalism etc. and throw in some terror - wowsa... I think I'll be doing more seances on a semi-regular basis. Also, just wanted to agree again with all who have said it before - Q & A is one of the ultimate effects / routines to do in mentalism - and if you haven't done it ever, you don't know what you are missing... Happy Halloween, gang!
