You might want to hit the search function to see those threads that answered this question some time ago.
For example you might want to read: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......;forum=6 It would be fun to see if some of the posters have changed their act since then.

Greetings and Salutations,
You're right, Harry, it would be great to see if or how these acts have changed in the intervening year(s). Have you changed your act since then? I must have missed this thread when it came around at the time. To answer your question, linceed87, I perform at renfests. I gather my crowd by getting people to hold my red line of death, a hank of soft-core magi's rope that marks the boundaries of my stage, and I riff off the crowd until I've gathered what I think my optimum crowd might be. As an alternative, I've used the ropes from my professor's nightmare set up to gather a crowd. Using the latter method, of course, I'll open with the PN. Or, I generally open with the red rag of mystery, which changes color. I'll middle with the PN, or, if I opened with it, I'll middle with the disappearing and color-changing red rag of mystery. I close with the C&B, and then pass the hat. If the crowd's right, or I'm stretching my show -- which I rarely have to do anymore -- or I'm killing time for somebody, I'll do a color-changing streamer ala McBride as a throw-away, or, more likely, do the gag floating wand bit because it takes up a bit more time. My act takes somewhere from 15 to 20 minutes depending on the crowd, little more or a little less if they're really smart! I have to work off of a table of course, but all of my props fits nicely into my pouch. That's my $.02 (USD) worth. YMMV Joe Zeman aka The Mage Ulysses |

I have a quick sidewalk show where I open with a rope routine, cut & Restored, Mongolian pop knot (Whit Haydn) with a professor's nightmare thrown in the middle. Then a cop cup and close with either Whit Haydn's 4 ring or Chris Capeharts 3 ring whickever I feel fits the crowd. About 15 minutes long.

It varies, but for the most part 15 minutes, starting with crowd gathering doing vanishing hankercheif or needle through balloon, flaming book (sight gag) 3 card monte routine, cut and restored rope, professors nightmare (cellini style..using the same rope), ambitious card stuff..and the cups and balls. I also will throw in my arm chopper, and different coin and card tricks between acts (instantly start trying to gather a new crowd with these warm ups)..
here and now

I have a new street show going on. I will climp though a squach-racket and a tennisracket at the same time. Then do a SJ escape with chains. The Rackets are new for me.
This summer I will introduce a new magic show to the ren faires. It involves some coin manipulation, cut and restored rope, linking rings and Cups and balls. The classics. My ordinary show - the one I've been doing for a couple of years are: Silk vanish Juggling with 3-4-5 balls Linking rings as a juggling trick SJ escape with chains or Tom Horn belt escape with chains depending on modern or ren-fair. (I do a lot of ren fairs.) /Ark
