Not SURE what the effect is, but it sounds like Pat Page's Easy Money... the best handling I've seen is Fred Kaps'. He talks about travelling and pickpockets, shows pieces of paper cut from a magazine and turns them into cash.

Pete... It is essentially the same... A few minor cosmetic changes... But it is the same...

I am reliably informed that bothSwiss 5 franc notes and Barbados $10 bills are pretty much the same as UK £5 notes.
I reckon there's good patter to be had here about holidays or Swiss bank accounts..? |

You could try doing an alternative to what is suggested by Greg himself, although most people (even Americans) aren't going to have "$500" lying about, but trying to use UK money is very difficult. As MyTurnPlzAA says it's definitely better to use US money and come up with an apropriate patter.

I have been trying to find banknotes the same size as UK notes for ages. I have Hundy and Slowburn and find the best method, for the moment, is to use lottery tickets. Still want to do it with currency though. I'm looking into the Swiss bills as stated before.

Why not use Scottish fivers? They're the same size as English notes.

I use US dollar bills and some of the old Canadian currency. I got out of magic for about 13 years and I'm just now getting back into the swing of things. My "set" has just sat undisturbed for all these years. The only thing that changed is the change in appearance of the new Canadian currency.
No matter. It just strengthens the effect. and now, can be used equally well in both the US and Canada. Here's my routine. I'd go into a USA store and go to buy something and pull out the Canadian. I'd ask: "Do you take Canadian". When they say: "No", I say: "No matter" or "No problem". and then I would do the change. This would of course get gasps, and some of the time, they wouldn't want to accept the money (fearing that it was fake). I always would buy something that cost more than the $5.00 in my gimmick--so I had an excuse to put it away and bring out a $20.00 bill (thereby ditching the gaff). I suspect that the effect will even play stronger now because both the US and Canadian stores will not take the "old" Canadian--but will probably both take the US dollars. I dunno, I haven't ever tried this effect in Canada. Just my two cents. Turk BTW, I "think" (but don't know for certain) that both Slow Burn and Hundy 500 are variations of the old Patrick Page effect (can't remember the name of Patrick's effect). This is what I am using and I cannot see any appreciable difference (or "improvement") between these effects and the old Patrick Page effect. Do we have another "Professor's Nightmare" on our hands?

Pat Page's original, with a minor improvement by Fred Kaps is still the best. He changed pieces of paper to money. Fred cut pieces from a magazine, thick and glossy pages... saying he didn't like pickpockets to see his money. (Pickpockets are rampant for travellers these days, I caught a guy with his hand in my pocket and rammed him into the wall, my stepson had a gang surround him and take his cash)... anyway, if it was good enought for Kaps it is good enough for anyone.
His "touch" was offsetting the bills 1/2-inch at the ends so you could FLIP the bills over to make the change... it is a miracle with his handling.

I have Slow Burn [but I'm taking medication ... ]
Anyways found this site http://www.banknotes.com/images.htm It has colour pics of bank notes from around the World - so thinking could resize the pic in photoshop & print them on a decent colour printer and away you go ! The site doesn't give actual sizes - but I very much doubt anyone [here in the UK] will know how big a Fijian $1 bill is anyhow ! |
