Hello,

I have a question for anybody that is familar with the book 'Class Act: The Magic of Tony Binarelli.'

I've been trying to learn the Slydini False Shuffle found towards the end of the book. I've seem to run into a couple of problems. I think from reading the description that the shuffle is a strip out as opposed to a pull/push through, is that correct? My second problem is that, if I'm reading it correctly, the top portion of the deck ends up on the bottom. It's suppose to be a false shuffle; am I wrong or is the description wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I figured asking about this shuffle might be a long shot because I never see anybody talking about this book. It's really an underated book.

Despite the fact I can't figure out this move, I would really recommend this book.
It has magic, mentalism, an interview with a tt... what more could you want?

Hi Justin:

It is a good book. I particularly like his routine Resurrection, which can be very powerful if played right.

No thoughts on the false shuffle as I have not tried to learn it.

Hi, Justin. I saw Tony Binarelli lecture at The Magic Circle in London on Monday night and asked him about the Slydini False Cut from the same book. He performed and explained the False Shuffle as well.

It's a strip-out shuffle. And you're correct, as written in the book the deck is cut. I was more interested in the False Cut or I would have asked him about this.

Thank you for the info, Mr. Field. You answered all my questions and I feel I have all the necessary info to start practicing the shuffle.

I would really love to see the shuffle in Mr. Binarelli's hands, the method is very interesting.

I saw Tony Binarelli last night, he demonstrated the false shuffle and false cut. The shuffle is ok, but IMO there are better shuffles, ie. more convincing.

The cut itself is typical Slydini, in that it needs a certain type of flamboyancy to carry it off without attracting undue attention.

On a slightly different note, I thought that a couple of his effects were real 'workers':-

"Any Card At Any Number" - Easy & highly effective with the right sell.

"ESP Divination" - 5 Zenner symbols blindly matched to 5 corresponding envelopes. So simple, yet it plays great and all you need is 5 pieces of paper, 5 envelopes (or 6 ... you'll see why!) and a pen.

Also, his method for the 10 Card Poker Deal, "The Cincinatti Poker Deal", which I think is in his "Class Act" book, is also good, but it did not play that well last night due to most of the attendees being unfamiliar with poker!!
